astrid did not go to work the next day, or the one after that. she couldn't face topper after kissing him, especially while he has a girlfriend.

"astrid, can you go buy some tickets for a ferry on sunday?" her dad asked her and she sighed, getting up off the couch.

"how many?" she asked and her father held up two fingers. she nodded and grabbed her keys and wallet, going out to her car and driving off to the ferry port.

it was raining by the time she got there, pouring even and she didn't have an umbrella. she walked through the dock, looking for ticket sales, he was gone for... 12 more minutes. great.

she decided to wait there and watch the people who got off the ferry.

only, a face was familiar to her. sarah cameron. she saw the girl walking toward her before suddenly turning around and walking back to another boy, who she knew was pope's friend.

sarah quickly kissed him, but the kiss was longer than astrid had expected. the two basically had a make out section in front of the whole crowd. oh shit. topper's girlfriend just made out with someone else. she had to tell topper.

"hey! you buying tickets?" the man asked, shocking her since he wasn't there before.

"yes, 2 for sunday at noon please." she asked, still looking at sarah out of the corner of her eye.

"here ya go." the man hands her the tickets and she goes to her car quickly.

she drives to topper's house and hopes he is home. she parks and hops out, knocking on the door loudly.

"what do you want?" topper spits at her.

"i need to tell you something." astrid says and pushes her way past him.

"ok i know you hate me but i was just at the ferry and i saw sarah-" topper cuts her off.

"sarah cameron?" he asks.

"yes sarah cameron, i saw sarah kissing a boy." astrid tells him and he squints his eyes before laughing.

"i thought you were better than this astrid. making things up now?" he says and she stares at him, her forehead creased.

"n-no i'm not lying topper, she was at the ferry and she-" he cuts her off.

"kissed him? yeah i don't think so." topper says and astrid shakes her head slightly.

"i swear topper, i would not lie to you about this. you have to believe me! just trust me!" astrid begs him and he stares at her, unsure of what to think.

"how can i trust you?" he asks in a low voice.

"i would never do anything to hurt you topper, i'm trying to help." astrid says, stepping closer to him.

"so you kissing me the other night was you trying to help me?" topper asks in a low voice and her eyebrows furrow.

"i was drunk..." she trails off as she stares up at him.

"who did she kiss?" topper asks, looking down at the floor.

"john b." astrid answers and sees his jaw clench, tapping his foot as he shakes his head slightly.

"you can leave now." he says and astrid sighs before nodding.

"are you okay?" she asks him and he nods once.

"i'll be here tomorrow, for work." she tells him before walking out of the house and back to her car to go home.

topper watches her leave, hoping she wasn't telling the truth.
