He awoke to the smell of gorse.
A sweet coconut-y smell that reminded him of island winds. Palm trees that sway over him and the sun that painted the sea. He opened his eyes to find that the sun was still asleep beside him. As mesmerizing as she always was, as bright, as beautiful. He let her burn into his irises. Too afraid to look away. This was just too good to be real, she was just too good to be real. To be here, existing beside him- laying beside him. And he wanted to bask in that fantasy for a little bit longer. Before life could be dark and grey again. ~ He needed this moment ingrained into his memory.
He let his eyes tangle themselves into her hair. Thick curls that curved as themselves, pleasantly rounding into her face. He noticed the lack of smoke and reminded himself to write that down later. It was an emotion-based semi-quirk that only reacted to conscious feeling. It made her an open book if you paid attention enough. He loved that about her.
He watched as her hair poured onto her shoulder, some of it spilling into the crook of her neck. The same neck he imagined his lips pressed against some nights. His teeth grazing against her skin as she shivers. Leaving purple love letters to read when the morning came again. He held his breath when his eyes flickered down to her torso. Her shirt had lifted a bit in the night. Not enough to see her bare breasts but enough to get a good glimpse of her stomach and everything underneath.
Her training was paying off and it showed. Slight indentations in her smooth skin that lined a subtle print of muscle. He thought it did good complimenting the dip in her waist. A dip that rose into a pleasant curve. He thought about the way her hips would feel in his hands. How perfectly they'd fit in them. How they'd curve around his torso as she pulled him in. He let his eyes kiss the gentle crease in her thigh leading to her underwear, and what little it covered.
It was a pretty lewd thought but he couldn't help but think that his head would fit there perfectly. Rightfully. Tongue tracing the patterns in the fabric. How her love would seep through the material for him. His spit and her nectar brewing a divine elixir. It was weird. He had never taken himself for the worshipping type until he had met her. But he supposed it was always there. How he worshipped All Might and all other heroes alike. It would only be natural to double in intensity with the woman whom he adored. A woman who he saw as a hero. A woman he knew he could be a hero too as well. "A hero's hero." It had a nice ring to it.
Glimpsing at the clock behind her head, he sighed. He didn't want this to be over. But they had school today, and she'd probably be upset if he made her late.
Letting his palm press against her shoulder, he shook her gently. "Hey, it's time to wake up." He cooed. "Come on."
She nodded drowsily after a few shakes. "Mhm, I'm up."
He snickered at her. "Are you?"
She responded with a soft smile, hair that fizzled into smoke as she opened her eyes and reached for him. God, he was living a fantasy.
Her gaze was so loving, so fondful; but it burned into him all the same. "I'm so glad you're still here."
"Where else would I be?"
She shrugged at that. Letting her fingertips glide across the veins in his extended arm. She was being so touchy and he loved it. "Thank you, by the way, ~ for being here."
"Of course." He nodded. "Hey, and if it ever happens again, don't be afraid to call me. I'll be here. In a heartbeat." Was that laying it on too thick? He didn't want to sound too desperate.
But the earnest look she gave him was reassuring, her voice sounding genuinely touched. "Honest?" Was this sort of compassion so new to her?
"Honest."
She got up at that. Taking a moment to raise her arms up in a groggy stretch. The way her shirt rose and her back slightly arched ~ The noise she made in response. It made him shudder. There is a god. He thought. There is a god, and she was magnanimous.
"Hey, can I ask you a favor?"
She turned to him again, catching his eyes with hers. "Of course. Anything."
"Can we.... drop the formalities?"
"The formalities?"
"Yeah." He nodded. "Call me Izuku."
~
Just as quickly as it had started, the school day had come to an end. She was thankful for that. Mainly because sitting between Kaminari and Ashido throughout most of the day was a little tiresome (But she'd never tell them that. They saw her as a friend and she thought that was sweet. But they were loud and a little obnoxious ~ it gave her headaches. Maybe one day she'll address it.) But aside from that, all was swell and swimming. She was so happy when she got to see Dek- Izuku at lunch today. And he seemed to share that same excitement. He brought up her favorite hero and they talked until the bell rang ~ sharing the disappointment when they had to part ways. He promised she'd see him again before the day was over, today he had to talk with All Might about something. She was curious but she didn't prod, only saw him off when he stopped by the classroom doorway.
He did something before he left though.
He hugged her.
She could still feel the way his arms slowly coiled around her waist. The way he pulled her into him, all but their knees pressed together as he embraced her. And god the way his head sunk into the crook of her neck when she wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Just the thought of his hot breath again her skin gave her goosebumps all over again. That wasn't a friendly hug. That was something else ~ something more intimate.
"See you later, Izuku."
She could feel his hold tighten at the sound of his first name. He let out a little groan that had her suppressing a shiver. "See you later, (Y/N)."
Something much more intimate.
Grabbing her things out of her locker and neatly tucking it in her bag, she threw the strap over her shoulder. Pushing some of the smoke out of her face as she tossed the door shu-
"Jesus fuck, Bakugou!" She held her hand against her heart. "You scared the hell out of me! How long have you been standing there?!"
"Doesn't matter. ~ You doing anything today?"
"Am I...? No, not that I know of-"
"Train with me."
"Wha-"
"Hallway near the Rec. Room. Meet me there when you're ready. Don't take too long."
And then he just left her there without another word. Leaving her dumbfounded and a little embarrassed.
She didn't know why but apart of her hoped he hadn't seen that little exchange between her and Izuku.
