So if you are writing a fantasy novel, or any other genre in which you are making your own world, I find maps to be so useful! In pretty much any book in a different words contains a map at the beginning of it. So why shouldn't we have the same?
There are a couple ways you could go about doing this; draw it by hand, draw it digitally, use a website.
If you draw it you have more control over where things go, how you want them to look and what is placed. You can also color things exactly how you want to.
If you draw digitally things will probably look cleaner, and it is easier to change where things go. Coloring and line-art can be chosen easier and you have full reign of design.
If you use a website you can make things look more professional, and the entire process is a lot easier. Certain things may not be available to use on certain websites, but for the most part it is easier. All of these options are great and terrible for their own reasons. Personally, I've done them all!
If you choose to use a website, here are a few that have worked for me:-Inkarnate
-World Anvil
-Worldspinner
-Azgaar
