YOU are the author of YOUR own book that YOU are writing thus for YOU have full control of how it goes.

Seriously, it breaks my heart how so many authors let others dictate their writing. Whether it be readers or other authors or family or friends, no one can tell you how to write. Your style is yours, your time is yours, your story, you guessed it, is YOURS. Call this a pep talk but no one can control your writing.
If it makes someone feel uncomfortable, fine. It's your story.
If it offends someone, fine. It's your story.
If it hurts someone's feelings, fine. It's your story.
If it doesn't meet someone's standards, fine. It's your story.
If no one likes it at all, fine. It's your story.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
