I'm sent home from the hospital immediately. The first thing I do once I walk into my house is go into the kitchen and fill a glass with water. I have a feeling that I'm going to be really conscious about how much water I drink from now on. I'm so relieved to finally have some answers, though.

Taking the filled glass with me, I walk to my room. I set the water on my desk and lie down on my bed, facing the ceiling.

Lifting my hand and holding it above my face, I create a spark of light that after just a second turns into streaks of electricity. I watch the lightning encircle my hand, spiderweb-like, moving quickly and constantly changing shape. It's a weird thing, holding lightning in my hand.

Focusing harder causes the yellow-white light to glow brighter. I hear a faint crackling sound, like small scale thunder.

A furry head appears in my vision as Lily steps onto my shoulder, curiously looking at the lightning in my hand. Before I can push the cat off of me or make the lightning stop, a single streak of the lightning shoots from my hand, zapping the white and black colored cat on her nose. She runs away, hiding in the closet on the other side of my room.

I extinguish the light and quickly go over to comfort Lily, feeling horrible for shocking her.

"Lily, are you okay?" I say, reaching into the closet to pick the poor cat up. "Oh, I'm so sorry." I hold her in my arms and scratch her under the chin. She rubs her head against my neck and starts purring.

"Glad to know you forgive me." I walk back over to the bed and sit down, continuing to pet Lily.

My thoughts shift back to my powers.

What now? Do I create a superhero costume and go fight crime like they always do in comic books? Sure, why not?

"Why did my life become so strange, Lily?" I ask the affectionate cat, who replies by rubbing her head against my neck once again.

I sit down at my white desk. Lily jumps out of my arms and curls up on top of a magazine I had left out on the desk awhile ago. My phone buzzes, indicating that I received a text message. I stand up to retrieve my phone off the head of my bed. It's a group message from Angela.

Hey everyone! I was thinking we should all go to the pool next weekend as a summer get-together type thing if you are all interested. Please let me know.

I reply to Angela:

Sure, I'd love to E(:

I set my phone back down and return to my desk. I pull open one of the drawers and take out a sketch book and pencil. Flipping to a blank page, I randomly doodle lighting bolts all over the paper.

The sound of someone knocking on the door catches my attention but I choose to ignore it and let someone else answer it. It creaks open and a moment later, Kenzie's voice shouts through the house, "Kyleigh, there's a boy at the door!"

I let my head fall on top of the sketchbook, feeling my cheeks grow warm with embarrassment. "Thanks, Kenzie," I mumble quietly to myself. Sighing, I stand up and walk to the front door.

"A boy?" My mom asks, seeing me walk towards the door. "Is he your boyfriend?"

"No, Mom," I say annoyed and embarrassed. I find a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes waiting for me at the door. "Oh, hi, Ryan," I greet when I see him. "Uh, this is my little sister, Kenzie..."

"Hello, Kenzie," He says politely to her.

"Hi!" Kenzie replies, waving her hand energetically.

"You can go now, Kenzie," I say quietly, pushing her away.
