Trigger Warnings: Implied Eating Disorder and Self-Deprecating Thoughts
Catherine had managed to get Anna back to their house with little trouble. She had been slipping back and forth almost the entire trip, however. Catherine had noticed. She was trying to figure out how to word it the entire ride back. She finally figured it out once they entered the house.
"Anna, hon, if you want to be little for a bit that's okay. You can and nobody will judge you. The rest of the girls are out. And I'm happy to take care of you for a little while if that's what you need. If not then we can just wait for the others."
Anna has given her the blankest look Catherine had ever seen. Had she gone too far? Maybe she and Jane had been wrong about them?
"You don't think I'm...weird?" Anna asked her very quietly.
"Of course not! Why would you think that?"
"I just...I'm supposed to be a grown woman. I'm a queen, for the love of-" She cut herself off when she realized she was speaking to the Catholic queen. "I'm not some toddler anymore. I shouldn't...I shouldn't need to do this. I should be able to care for myself."
Catherine gently set her hand in Anna's shoulder. "Of course you're an independent, strong, grown woman. And a wonderful queen on top of it. But you've been through a lot. None of us had much childhood back then. There's nothing wrong with being little. It's a natural coping mechanism. You don't have to hide it."
"But what would the other queens think...? They'd think I'm weird."
Catherine sighed and sat down next to her.
"I don't think they would think of you any differently, hon. Jane and I, for one, completely support you, one hundred percent. I bet she'll say the exact same thing when she gets home. But no matter what, you're still our fun-loving German queen, whether you're big or little."
Anna looked up at her, confused slightly. "Jane and you?"
"We're both Caregivers, Anna. We both want to help. Why do you think I carry Goldfish in my purse?"
" 'Cause you like to eat them?"
"Not quite," Catherine laughed.
"Do the- are the other girls little too?"
"We're not too sure yet. But I think we'll find out eventually. Now, how about you get changed into something more comfortable? And then I could make you a hot chocolate if you want."
Anna thought for a moment before nodding. She then quickly got off the chair and started to go upstairs. She ran up the stairs towards the bedrooms.
"Be careful!" Catherine shouted after her, smiling. She began to make the hot chocolate, letting it cool off before Anna was back down.
Jane: How's everything going? We're just about to leave.
Catherine: We're doing good. Anna still flipping back and forth a little bit. She doesn't want to fully go down.
Jane: Do you know how low she's dropping?
Catherine: I can't tell. Maybe five or six? Not super little.
Jane: Alright. I have to go wrangle the geese.
Catherine: The geese? I thought it was the gremlin, the cat, and the worm.
Jane: Collectively they're a bunch of geese. Also, please hide Anne's Heelys. She and Kat were sharing candy.
Catherine: Jane, I love you but what the hell were you thinking, babe.
