D e v i n

She really managed to avoid him throughout the year, he also hadn't planned to make a move to talk with her. It was definitely not a happy ending between them, he wanted to fix it but seeing her with her new circle it made him feel...

forgotten.

And he thought he might make her feel like that too. Ego was mounting in him, the little hope he had for her slowly disappear with time too.

'You miss her, don't you?' Michael chirped in abruptly, a teasing smile playing on his lips as he sat next to him. He shrugged, acting tough as usual with the beer can in his hand. 'If I miss her, would that change anything?'

'Speak to her then. It's just not going to work out if you don't make any effort on her.'

He only stared at his friend, he can't deny he was speaking up facts. Arguing it would make him look stupid so he chose to be quiet. Michael gave him a boyish hit on his arm, getting up from the floor to get the guitar across the room, leaving his spot.

He thought about it for a while, shaking his head as he tried to straighten his mind but the two little voices in his head just won't quit talking. Self debating is funny, at the end you will always remain unanswered and confused as hell.

They didn't have school anymore after the graduation day, so Devin made up his mind to come over to Birdie's house, using her books she left there as an excuse. It was a dumb move, probably the stupidest thing ever he had done in his 18 year old living. He pulled over a few houses away, cursing under his breath.

Am I doing it right? Will she let me in after what I did?

The little voice in his head straight up pouring more questions, making him so nervous and anxious. He took a hold of her favorite book. He never understood how did she find it interesting reading a book with such complicated English words compiled in the same page. The difference between them was so huge, but he didn't bother letting her do whatever she wanted.

He got out from the car, the resr of her books in the paper bag with one in his hand.

It felt like he had stepped on the landmine she planted for him long time ago, as he saw it by his own pair of eyes Birdie was bringing over another boy to her house, their fingers were intwined together with the girly giggle escaping her mouth.

He almost dropped the bag, she just tightly clenched her little fist on his heart as it shattered again.

With that, he just got into his car and began to drive away like he did months ago.
