Chapter 4: Baguettes

"I'm super excited to see what our hotel view is going to be," I said to Felicity and Charlotte. We opened the door to the hotel room and ran to the balcony. "You guys get over here. We have a view of the Eiffel Tower!" What I'm most excited about having a view of the Eiffel Tower is at night, it lights up. Jessica and Chase say that it's a really nice view. Who is Jessica and Chase you ask? Chase is my 19 year-old brother and Jessica is his girlfriend. Jessica and I are really close. She is over at our house right now like she is most of the time. Chase and Jessica were on the same trip back when they were juniors.

There was a knock at the door. Zach, Vince, Tyler, Avery, Sarah, Lexi, Caleb and Hunter were all at the door. "Time to explore!" Lexi exclaimed.

"Yeah. We decided that the two groups go together so the whole gang is here," Sarah said.

"Awesome! Let's go," Charlotte said.

I lead the group out of the room and down the dimly-lit carpeted hallway. We turned the corner to another identical hallway but this one had an elevator at the end. We all loaded into the small space with girls in front and guys in the back. I pressed the button that would lead us to the lobby and down we went. We started off at our floor, 4, and ended at the amazing lobby. It was still breathtaking. I will probably never get over this hotel.

"So we have two to three days to tour the city and research for our paper and then we have the rest of the week to just visit, relax, you know just have fun," Zach said.

"Where should we stop first?" I asked.

"Eiffel Tower!" Charlotte, Lexi and Avery exclaimed.

"Well then it's off to the Eiffel Tower we go," Vince said. I saw Charlotte try to suppress a giggle. Oh man. This girl is head over heels for him.

We were about to walk out when Felecity reminded us saying, "Remember guys, we have to be back by 2:30, and it's already 12:30. We have two hours."

"Alright, Felicity, you are on time duty," I said as we bolted out the door and onto the lovely patio. We all decided to walk and get the full feel of the city. As we walked out I took in my surroundings.

There were people every where on the cobblestone streets of Paris. The buildings were huge as we made our way to the Eiffel Tower. People were on bikes, walking, or in cars.

I see the Eiffel Tower right there and I broke into a run. I ran across the green grass and zigzagged through all of people. I kept running until I was right underneath the Eiffel Tower.

"Woah there Maddie. I didn't think you were this excited to get to the bottom of a structure built for the World's Fair and for the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution," Jake said.

"Come on guys lets take a picture." Zach suggested. We all whipped out our phones and took pictures. Then we asked some French lady, thanks to myself, to take a group picture of us all. I taught myself to speak French because of want to connect to my French roots.

"Guys it's 1:30. We have an hour left." Felecity stated.

"Well what should we do?" Caleb asked.

"I know! I saw a bakery on our way here. Let's get something to eat." Lexi said.

"Great idea Lexi. Besides, I'm starving and I want a French baguette." Vince said. That child is always hungry.

All the girls ordered croissants while the boys ordered three French baguettes. They are weird on so many levels.

Just then Valerie and Justin walked in with their minions. Are you kidding me right now? Something was wrong with Valerie and Justin though. The both looked miserable. I wonder why.
