"Again," the voice said.

Alex tried to fight. Her knuckles were bloody and she felt pain all over her body. She was throwing punches and kicks at the unknown in front of her but her attempts were futile.

"Weak," the voice said once again, this time more cruel than before.

Alex let out a cry of pain but she still held on. A katana was thrown to her which she caught and immediately, she was slashing at whatever was in front of her but again, she failed at completing the task.

"Too slow," the voice said, its tone dripping with anger.

"I'm doing the best I can!" Alex yelled into the void. "What the hell do you want me to do?"

"Kill or be killed, Alex," the voice said. "That idea is what's supposed to drive you into becoming your best self."

"How is this my best self?" asked Alex angrily.

"I'm part of you, Alex," the voice answered. "You will never get rid of me."

The darkness around her started to consume her slowly and she screamed for help until she was swallowed.

Alex woke up with a gasp. She looked around to see where she is. She let out a sigh of relief when she realized she's still in S.T.A.R Labs. While everyone else went home, Alex wanted to stay for a while. She didn't feel like going home and wanted to stay with Barry, who was still in a coma. After the incident in the warehouse, Alex kept having nightmares but these were more than nightmares.

Much more.

She decided to spend extra hours watching over Barry. Just staying by his side calmed her and it distracted her from thinking about the nightmares. She stayed at S.T.A.R Labs more often than her apartment. She even brought blankets and packs of instant noodles. She made use of the extra bed and slept next to Barry. Caitlin was concerned about Alex not going home and Cisco endlessly teased Alex for being attached to Barry.

Alex checked the clock for the time. It was 7 in the morning and she decided to get up to check on Barry's vitals. She stretched her muscles before getting the clipboard and then she walked over to Barry.

"Let's see how you are today," she said.

She checked the monitor for his heart rate and then checked his blood pressure. After doing all that, she removed the stethoscope and laid it on the table with the clipboard.

"You're doing fine as always," said Alex with a smile as she sat down on the chair next to Barry's bed.

"It's been... a while," she said. It's been nine months.

Alex held his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. "It's great to sleep, I know," she said with a chuckle. "But you gotta wake up. You gotta keep fighting. You gotta be strong. With all of what's happened, you are, like, the miracle of all this. When you wake up, you're gonna become someone they will look up to because you survived. Besides... Joe needs you... Iris needs you... Everyone needs you..."

She trailed off, looking sadly at Barry. She had repeated the same words to him every day for nine months. A futile attempt to wake him up and Alex doesn't know why she keeps on doing it. As she was about to let go of his hand, she felt a weak sort of movement coming from Barry's hand.

Alex's eyes widened. "Barry?" she called him.

Squeeze.

Alex let out a gasp of surprise. She leaned towards Barry to see if what she felt was real. "Barry, squeeze my hand if you can hear me," she said to him.
