"no almond milk today?" beomgyu asked, nodding to the bottle of coffee on the counter.

"no," soobin monotoned, "i barely slept last night."

acknowledging his complaint, beomgyu scanned and gave the bottle to him, about to say something when a loud sound made him jump.

"oh my god, please don't tell me it's going to rain," soobin groaned, "can it get any better?"

"hey, can you go back to your workplace like this?" beomgyu questioned as he searched his bag frantically for an umbrella.

"i'll just go like this," the taller disposed the bottle in a bin and dashed out of the door. 

"hey-" before beomgyu could say anything, soobin was already out in the rain.

"he's going to get sick like this," kai sighed.

soobin trudged into the air-conditioned hall, shivering as the cold air hit him. he made his way to his locker and changed into his spare set of clothes, thanking his past self silently for keeping one. 

"soobin, do you have your monthly report with you?" his boss' voice called out to him, as he rushed to pass it. 

collapsing onto his desk, soobin was about to launch into his work when the familiar request echoed in the office.

"four iced latte for us, thanks."

carrying the coffee back to his workplace, he stopped by a small storeroom as soobin heard his name.

"can you believe that soobin kid? what was all the act of rushing to pass his work? fake. do you see us rushing to hand up our work? he just came here and he's putting up all the act."

"i know right? i heard that he's from ansan. that's like, the smallest town ever?"

soobin stopped himself from listening as the words dug deeply into him. taking a deep breath, he walked back into the workplace, placing the coffee onto the desk. 

they're right. he's new, and was born in the most normal family ever. he must know his place. 

he closed his eyes, trying to make the negative thoughts go away. he need to go to his safe place again. the convenience store. 

right. convenience store was his safe place.

cashier boy was his safe place.
