soobin wasn't like others.

he did not experience parting before. all he could remember was on one rainy night, many relatives came to his house, even ones he did not see before.

and mom was crying.

to a child at his age, parting was to complicated to be understood. all he knew was, he wouldn't see his dad in a very, very long time.

"mommy, what happened?" he mustered all his courage and went up to his mother.

the lady looked broken, so broken he couldn't recognize her at some point. she looked at him with her red eyes, and cried even more.

"soobin, someone said that your father did something bad, although he never did. do you believe him?"

"i believe him!"

his mother often told him after that. you must study hard. study hard so our family wouldn't get humiliated again. study hard so our family wouldn't be poor again. study hard.

so he did. he studied and got good grades. he studied and got into college. he studied and went to seoul.

but was he happy?

-

"i get a day off tomorrow." beomgyu said as soobin pushed the glass door of the store open.

"are you hinting something to me?" soobin retorted.

"no! i was thinking, if you are free tomorrow..." the shorter trailed off, unsure on how to continue.

"okay." soobin agreed.

"i didn't even say-"

"it doesn't matter."

-

"so when you said you didn't plan, you were being serious?" the pair stood in front of the bus stop as soobin started.

"why would i lie? i don't plan, i do," beomgyu argued, checking occasionally on the buses coming.

"please tell me you're kidding. where do you feel like going?" the older questioned.

-

so they ended up at the cinema, deciding on a movie five minutes after it had started.

"why are you so indecisive? we should have picked the one i saw just now!" beomgyu bickered as he took a handful of popcorn from soobin.

"i'm sorry i'm sagittaries? anyways, we are not going to watch a cartoon movie." soobin asserted.

"hey! don't insult cartoon movies!" beomgyu stated, a bit too loud, earning weird glances from people nearby.

"why would you want to watch a mystery film? it's creeping me out," beomgyu whispered, slightly embarrassed.

"why? you're scared?" soobin challenged.

"why would i be?" the younger huffed as the screen launched into the movie.

-

"this film is based on real-life events," the subtitles stated. the movie barely started when soobin felt a clutch on his hoodie sleeve.

it wasn't much, but in the beginning of a mystery film, when you see a hand on your sleeve, of course you would be creeped out.

so soobin almost jumped out of his skin until he realized it was just beomgyu.

"you almost gave me a heart attack!" soobin sighed, gaining silence from the latter.

feeling odd, soobin turned his head as he saw beomgyu looking at his toes, hands still holding onto his sleeve for dear life.

"are you-" the taller was cut off by another scream from the woman in the film, as beomgyu closed his eyes and held onto his sleeve tighter.

"hey, if you don't want to watch this, we can go out."

gaining a small nod from the black-haired boy, the older gathered their things and held out his hand to beomgyu, who held onto it.

-

"that proves my point that mystery films suck," beomgyu heaved a sigh of relief the moment they stepped out of the theatre.

"it's not! you're just scared." soobin said, looking at their intertwined hands.

feeling a blush creep onto his cheeks, the younger pulled his hand away, pointing to a restaurant immediately.

"let's go there!"

-

and beomgyu ended up spilling an entire can of cola onto his shirt.

soobin gave him a sigh and took off his hoodie, handing it to the shorter.

"thanks..." he slipped onto the shirt as he gave him an apologetic smile.

"be careful, god. what can you do without me?"

-

it was supposed to be fluff but i'm not so sure now? i'm so sorry :(
