pitter patter.

12 am on a rainy night.

"beomgyu!"

the black-haired boy had never seen soobin so happy, smiling brightly like a little boy.

"what's the big news?" he asked.

"i was raised to the head of my department!" soobin gave a toothy grin, which beomgyu thought looked a lot like a bunny.

"congrats! do you want anything to eat? my treat," beomgyu asked, giggling at his smile.

"i..." he was interrupted as someone pushed the door open with a loud slam, visibly drunk.

beomgyu felt worried about how to deal with drunk customers, but the neon hair caught his attention.

"yeonjun?"

the boy looked up at him with half-closed eyes, which widened at the name.

"beom...gyu? beomgyu?"

"yeah, i..."

"choi beomgyu?"

the boy raised his voice, putting his hands on beomgyu's shoulders.

"choi beomgyu?" he almost screamed, pushing him into the glass wall behind.

beomgyu blinked, confused.

"yeonjun, i think it's better if..."

"choi beomgyu, choi beomgyu..." with contrast to his previous state, the boy sobbed as if the name was such a harsh thing.

"hey, don't..." beomgyu wanted to comfort him but was abruptly cut off.

"i'm so sorry..." beomgyu looked over his shoulders and gave soobin a helpless look, which soobin gave a clueless look back.

"i...i...just don't understand why you have good friends...real friends...while all my friends all used me...it's hard being the most popular student, you know...so i was jealous...and set you and taehyun up...i made you find the envelope and put the note under taehyun's table so he could think that you backstabbed him and..." the rest was an inaudible murmur, as he hugged the black-haired boy tightly, so tightly that beomgyu felt that he couldn't breathe, sobbing into his arms.

"hey, take a rest there," as if it was his final straw, soobin pulled yeonjun up and make him rest at one of the small tables in the convenience store, the other hand wrapping protectively around beomgyu.

"thanks," beomgyu gave him a grateful smile before frowning. "i smell like beer now,"

"what's with him?" soobin asked, gesturing to yeonjun, who was mumbling in his sleep.

"it's just drama in high school. forget it," the younger sighed, opening the wrapper of a lollipop. "do you want one?" which soobin accepted gratefully.

it was just you, me, and the rain.

can we stay like this forever?
