"Hot water freezes faster than cold water." She introduced as we were walking around the park.
"Know it." I said, putting my hands in my jean pockets.
"I said like 20 facts and you knew all of them. I feel like you're lying to me." She mumbled, folding her arms.
I laughed as I kicked a stone on the grass, "I love facts. I watch those 'top ten facts you didn't know' on YouTube when I'm bored. Passes time and I learn new stuff."
"Nerd." She added. I looked at her with an open mouth and she smirked before running away.
I quickly followed, trying to catch her before she escapes further. I felt the cold air hit my face as I reached out my arm in an attempt to catch her by her navy blue crop top, followed by high waist black skinny jeans with white Nike sneakers.
Her hair ,which was now let loose, flew in the night as she took a left turn, making me jump out of my thoughts. After running for what feels like 3 minutes, I stopped. Seeing as that I'll never catch her.
She stopped and turned to look at me with a smile. She let out a small laugh, walking back to me. "Take." She said, holding out a water bottle for me.
I looked at her with a raised eyebrow and she rolled her eyes, taking a sip of the water to calm my suspicions. "See? Not poisoned. Now take." She handed me the water bottle back and I gladly took it before gulping down the rest of the remains down my throat.
After a sigh of relief escaped my lips, she sat down on the grass next to me. I sat down and gave her back her bottle, "Thanks."
"No problemo." She put the bottle next her as she looked forward at the many couples in front of us.
The park was full of a lot of couples tonight. All of them as happy as can be. Some were taking night walks, some were having a late night picnic, some were here with their kids, and some were playing on the playground like little kids. It was such a beautiful sight to see. I miss those times mom and dad used to go on dates at night. Chloe and I would stay home alone and binge watch Korean drama, which I was forced to watch since Chloe was addicted. I always had to wait for Chloe to fall asleep so i could watch my anime. She goes to sleep very quickly so it really wasn't a problem for me.
"What you thinking about?" She asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Life."
"Life," She repeated, "Remember those times we would wish we were grown ups so we could have control over everything we do?"
"What the hell were we thinking." I let out, leaning back, resting my weight on my arms.
"Bro!" She exclaimed, lying down on the grass.
"It is what it is." We both said together and we looked at each other in confusion before laughing it off.
Maddison and I quickly hit it off by the party. We got used to each other so quickly that we instantly became friends. I don't know why but she gets me, a lot. It's like I can relate to her. What surprises me is that I never noticed her until the party.
I took out my phone and played a playlist which only had slowed down songs. I rested my phone on the grass gently before lying down with my arms folded behind my head.
"You listen to slowed music?" She asked.
"Yeah. Gives me peace."
"You know which song actually hits when slowed down?" She turned to face me and I looked back at her.
"Which song?"
"Slow Dancing In The Dark by Joji. Just listen." She took out her phone, which I quickly identified as an iPhone Xs Max, and scrolled through her music until she spotted the song. She stopped the song playing on my phone and the song on her phone started playing.
