I was at a restaurant with my mom, waiting for him to show up.
The same night mom told us he was in our town, he called my mom, asking for us to meet up with him. At first I refused but mom insisted and I ended up agreeing. I don't know what is going to happen inside me when I see him after two long years. I just have a feeling that this night won't end well.
My phone buzzed from my pocket and I took it out to see that I was added in a group with Maddison and Hamilton and they were already hitting it off as I saw the notification of 100+ messages from the group. I opened the chat to see they were arguing from the silliest thing ever invented.
(: Maddison:
Chocolate.
0: Hamilton:
Banana.
(: Maddison:
AHHH! For the last time Hamilton, NO ONE LIKES BANANA MILKSHAKES!
0: Hamilton:
Looks like SOMEONE likes banana milkshakes. Where's Connor anyway? I'm sure he will support me here. Connor! Where are you buddy?
Me:
Don't involve me in your stupid fights. By the way, Who the fuck likes banana milkshakes?
(: Maddison:
HA! Thank you Connor. Hamilton, remind me again who's supporting you?
0: Hamilton:
Ha ha ha ha, you're so funny Mads, I can't stop laughing. (Note the sarcasm before you start feeling yourself.)
I chuckled at these two recent, yet stupid, friends of mine. I switched off my phone, sliding it into my pocket before glancing at my mom who looked deep in thought.
I reached my arms across the table to hold her hands in mine. She looked at me, quickly turning her mouth in a smile.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
She looked down at our hands as she played with my hands before looking back at me.
"Nothing you should worry about. Just wish Chloe was here."
"She has exams. Mom, tell me what's really wrong?"
She sighed, closing her eyes.
"I haven't seen nor heard from him in so long. I'm just nervous about seeing him again. A part of me still hates him for his abuse towards me but another part of me still loves him because...I just don't know how I'm going to react when I see him again."
I rubbed my thumbs on the back of her hands before she opened her eyes, looking over my shoulder.
I turned around and there he was. Wearing black sunglasses with a black leather jacket zipped up until his chest, showing a fraction of his white shirt. He wore black jeans and white Nike sneakers. His brown hair now reached his shoulders along with his brown beard that looks like it hasn't been shaved in like never.
It wasn't hard for me to recognize him even though he changed, a lot. I looked around his face to identify the scar I gave him on his forehead when we were playing tennis around when I was 10. That scar always made it easier for me to recognize my dad.
He spotted us and a smile creeped its way on his lips. I turned back to face mom who couldn't stop starring at dad.
He reached our table and sat down before taking off his glasses, showing the bruises around his eyes. He looked at me then my mom then back at me, with a smile still on his face.
