Evie's POV
I couldn't wait. Today was the Forth of July, exactly one and a half months since I was assigned the BSS mission, aka, the Beyond the Solar System project. In about two weeks I would be heading out to space and into a whole other solar system! In the past half century, space travel has become much faster. Back in 2020, during the great Covid-19, a space ship was sent up on 5-30-20 to go to the space station. That all together was about nineteen hours, but now, it would take maybe two. Considering this, it wouldn't take that long to arrive at the new planet.
Today, I was going to my parents house to set off fireworks and have a nice dinner. I shuffled over to my closet lazily and reached inside. Deciding to represent the nation, I chose a red thigh length dress that hugged my figure perfectly and had ruffles going down the front. I wore white lace up boots with a white purse. I tied a blue ribbon into my hair. I finished off the look with only a light layer of makeup, trying to use the nations colors.
I rushed out the door and into my car, and started the hour drive to my parents home. I couldn't wait to see them...
Evie's Mom's POV
I paced around the living room restlessly.
She can't go out of our Solar System! She just can't... If she did then-
"Honey? The cake needs to be frosted- What's wrong?" my husband asked worriedly. My face probably was laced with fear, but I know he will understand.
I gave him a look and he nodded, apparently getting the concept right away. "Come, dear. Lets go frost the cake to celebrate our country."
Yeah, our country...
Evie's POV
I walked up to my parent's door and knocked, taking a step back to wait. My feet were dancing in excitement. I mean, if you hadn't seen your parents in a year, wouldn't you be excited?
The door nob twisted and the door was flung open. My mom was at the door with the largest smile on her face, from ear to ear.
"Mom! It's been way. to. long! How have you been?" I asked, laughing sightly in joy.
She smiled even larger and replied, "A bit gloomy without you, but we've managed."
"Where is Dad?" I asked, tilting my head slightly to the side.
"Over here!" he shouted from the kitchen. Boy, how I loved my family.

I came home from my parents house, extremely weary. I had a bunch of fun, but I couldn't wait for the comfort of my bed. I quickly ran up to my room and changed into a large T-shirt and gym shorts. I yawned as I climbed into bed. I just cannot wait for my trip...
Sorry this chapter was short. I was rewatching the eighth Harry Potter movie for the billionth time while writing this. (The other author of this account and I watch all the movies in a row maybe four times a year.) However, I promise the book will get more exciting. Also, don't expect me to get the travel time correct because I'm too lazy for math, but if anyone wants to share with me the correct time of the scale 3 hours = 19 hours then that would be nice. That is all, bye potatoes!
