Saving Earth

Evie's POV     

 (I do realize that the other author of this account has the same name, but when I planned the story the name was already Evie)

     Today must have been the hottest day of the year.  My skin burned and a drop of sweat rolled down my face.  It was as if the sun was purposely trying to give me sun burn. Wait, scratch that,  the sun WAS purposely trying to give me sun burn.  I sighed as I went inside my small beach house.

     I guess I'm not getting a tan today.

     I sat on the couch with a glass of water.  I was about to reach for the remote when my phone rang in the distance.  I scrambled to get up, searching around for it. Outside!  Rushing outside, I found my phone and fumbled trying to hit the answer button.

     "Hello, Joe!  Do you need help with something at the NASA Station? I can come by, I wouldn't mind-" I heard Joe chuckle on the other side of the line. 

     "No, no, Evelyn.  Everything is just fine.  I actually wanted to talk about you.  However, I think we should meet in person.  The cafe at 2 sound good?" he asked.

    I nodded my head furiously, but then realized he couldn't see me. "Yes! I mean, sure! Yeah... yeah! Okay! Um..."

     He chuckled again saying, "Okay, I'll see you at 2, Evie.  Be safe, bye."

     He ended the call and I said a small 'bye' to myself.  I sighed and flopped back onto the couch.  Maybe a nice nap would be good...

     Waking up with a jolt, I turned to my phone.  Only 1:34? I can go to sleep again...  Wait! 1:34? Ack! I got to get ready!  I quickly ran over to my closet and picked out a white tight skirt with a pastel pink blouse.  I but on my white heels and went to do my make up.  I decided to just stick with concealer and lip gloss since I was running late as it was. 

     I turned to the clock while putting my hair up in a ponytail.  1:41.  I can make it. I grabbed my purse and ran to my car, starting the twenty minute drive.  

     I walked into the cafe and ordered myself a chocolate muffin with a cappuccino.  After I got my food, I saw Joe waving from a corner table and I quickly walked over, my shoes clicking on the hard floor. 

     "Hey Evie! Wassup?" he asked cheerfully.

     "Not much.  The suns way too hot, so I can't do much outside.  You?" I asked politely.

     "Well, that's what I'm here to talk about with you today.  So, remember how you recently discovered that new planet? Planet ID 22791, correct?"

     I got really excited at the mention of this, and I shook my head up and down aggressively.  Recently, I was using the newest model telescope, the SS49 scope.  It was the strongest model yet.  As I was looking through the night sky, I saw a distant light, way to bright to be a star, however.  Soon, NASA determined it to be a new planet, from a different solar system in the galaxy. Everyone was so excited, especially me.

     "So, don't freak out, but we are planning on having a space trip to go to Planet ID 22791, and we want you to lead the mission! Congrats, Evie!"

     I was star struck.  Did he really mean I actually got to go to this planet?! I could barely contain the huge smile forming on my face. 

     "When do I start?" 

Soooo!  I just wanted to say, since it is year 3001 (and all of us are sadly dead ;-;) us Earthlings have already gone to all the planets in our solar system.  This is why they are planning on going out of the solar system, got it?  Okie!  Good lil' potatoes! Bye!!
