Waking up I felt an arm grab my waist as I recalled last night's events. He didn't leave? I quickly studied his sleeping features. His eyelashes were long and as dark as coal even against his tan skin, he had small freckles in random places, and most importantly he looked at peace like there was no place he would rather be than right here with me but I knew that was just wishful thinking. He wasn't supposed to be lying here and yet he was, he wasn't supposed to allow him to comfort me, and yet he did. In my head, I knew this was stupid and dangerous but at the moment I didn't care I wanted him. His phone started to ring. He moaned softly before turning over and flickering his eyelids before his eyes met mine and he answered the call.
"Hello? No, she went out." He said and I spared him a confused look but he shook his head after a few words he hung up. "That was your parents, they wanted me to tell you they won't be coming back."
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"Ashton will be back and you guys will finish off highschool in your home but your parents are moving permanently to Barbados." He said and pushed the covers off my body.
"Thank you, Blake," I said sliding out of bed and grabbing a pair of blue jeans and a crop top.
"Where are you going?" He asked curiously.
"Out away from here out of the city I don't know, I just need time to process," I said, grabbing my phone.
"Let me come." He said quickly and I agreed as I didn't have a car at the moment due to it being in the shop.
"Okay," I said and he walked to his room to get dressed. 20 minutes later he walked out fully dressed. I ran my hand through my hair to get the knots out of my hair.
"Ready?" He asked and I nodded as we walked through the door.
"273 Park Avenue," I said, bucking my seatbelt as we began to drive Before I Lose my mind by Etham began to play.
40 minutes Later
We pulled up at the park, yes the park that haunts my nightmares. "Why this place?" Blake asks and I get out of the car and he follows me to the swings where I sit watching the kids play.
"This is the place it all began and ended, this is the last time I was truly happy."
"Meaning?" He asked clearly confused and I realized I was going to open up to him. I hadn't told anyone about this now even Haley or Maddison. I know Ashton opened up to Dalton but I had never trusted anyone enough to share. I was afraid they would think of me differently I was scared they would see me how I and my mother saw me... A murder.
"I use to have an older brother his name was Logan," I began and Blake placed his hand on mine urging me to go on, "One day when I was eight years old I came to this park with Logan he was 16 he was from my dads first marriage, but I never paid much attention to him being my dad's son and not both my parent's kid he was my hero his mother dies when he was 8. Anyway back to the day he died I was running around the park I thought it would be funny to run into the alley," I closed my eyes feeling a tear fall down my face, "These men cornered me they were going to rape or sell me even at such a young age I knew it I thought I was dead but then Logan showed up he told me to run and I did as fast as my little legs could carry me I told my dad. He instructed me to my room and I went I cried and cried until I heard a faint knock on my door I looked up and my dad walked in I still remember his exact word as the tears fell down his face 'Logans not coming home baby he was murdered' I remember my mother taking it the hardest she had loved him as her own she blamed me it was my fault he died after all."
"No," He said strongly and I looked at him with teary eyes, "It was not your fault you were a kid you were doing what kids do. Those terrible excuses of humans are to blame not you. Logan loved you and I promise you if he could do it all over again even if he knew what would happen he would." I wrapped my arms around him crying into his shirt. He didn't complain about me ruining his shirt; he just ran my back in comforting motions. After a bit, I pulled back and whipped my face.
"Sorry, I'm sorry I didn't mean to ruin your shirt. I'll buy you a new one." I said and he pushed a strand of my hair behind my hair.
"You can ruin as many of my shorts as you need, don't worry about it." He said as our body got closer to one another I leaned in slowly when I saw movement in the corner of my eye.
"Hey, mister." A little girl missing her front tooth said to Blake and he looked down at her, "My sister said you and your girlfriend are wery cute." She said pointing to an older girl around 14 who was blushing red. Neither one of us made a move to correct the actuation of us being a couple.
"Marie get back here!" She ordered and Blake and I laughed at the little girl getting hushed yelled at by her sister. "Now they're going to think I'm weird.." was the last thing the girl said before they met up with an older woman most likely their mother.
"Ice cream?" Blake offered and I nodded my head. "Alright, let's go." When we got to the ice cream parlor I saw my friend Lola Scott and her boyfriend Ethan Carter and I tugged Blake towards them.
"Hey Lola, Omg you're pregnant!!" I squealed and she laughed. Lola and Ethan went to Eastbrige high so we rarely saw each other. "Are you excited?" I asked Ethan and he nodded his head. He and Lola were rumored gang leaders and I didn't care to see if they were or not.
"It was good to see you again Alissa." Lola said once Ethan nodded impatiently at his watch, "I'd love to chat but we have a doctor's appointment to get to. I was just craving Ice cream." She said.
"No biggy," I said as she walked out of the store.
"They seem nice," Blake muttered and I smiled at him.
"Lola is, Ethan's a little scary though," I said and walked up to the counter. We both ordered our ice cream and went to the car to sit and talk.
"How'd you meet them?" He asked.
"Who Ethan and Lola?" I asked and he nodded, "Her brother Jordan was actually the one to introduce Lola and me in kindergarten and we were friends up until high school where I met Ethan."
"Why?"
"Different high schools." I said and he nodded his head, "What about you, what made you want to be a teacher."
"My sister Maggie, you met her in the classroom." he reminded me and I nodded, "Well when I was 20 I didn't know what I wanted to do I had a bit of a drinking problem and my ex-girlfriend had just died from cancer. Maggie was only 11 at the time but I was passed out on the couch and she slapped me in the face and looked me dead in the eyes and said 'look bubba you need to do something with your miserable life, Sandy would be so mad at you for wasting away.' I was sure it was something my mom had told her but nonetheless I asked her what she proposed I do, and she answered teaching. At first I was appalled at the idea but I pulled myself together and went to watch her class one day. I realized I loved it and got off my but and here I am today."
"Wow, that's incredible," I said and he nodded his head.
"I honestly don't know where I'd be without Maggie." He said and I smiled at him. "We should get back. I have to plan my teaching for the week."
"Yeah I have to get some sleep Haley and I are going shopping for the prom tomorrow." Once we got home I cooked us bbq wings for dinner and then we went our separate ways for the night.
