Gabriella.

Are you going to that party tonight?" Briyar, my best friend since middle school, asked as I closed my locker. I shrugged, putting my book bag on my shoulder as we proceeded walking down the hall of Hillside Academy. The school for all the rich kids whose parents think paying for their schoolings will somehow make their kids not end up doing drugs or committing crimes.

"I don't know, maybe. I need to study for my test on Monday." I said as Briyar rolled her eyes. She scoffed & stepped in front of me, making me stop in place. Briyar's green eyes pierced my brown ones & I could see the annoyance in them.

"Girl, you can study for that shit on Sunday! It's our senior year! Let's have some fun tonight!" She stated, resting her hands on my shoulders and shaking me a little. I thought about it....in all my 3 years in high school, I can count on one hand how many parties I've been to. My father can be somewhat..over protective. He claims it's valid because of the lifestyle he used to live, but what could be so bad about his past that he feels the need to be this way? What's the worst that could happen to me?

"Okay fineeeee, I will go." I said reluctantly. She screamed, hugging me. Even though I'm 18 years old, I knew I still had to make sure my father was okay with me going. I just hope he hears me out. "Two hours tops!" I told Briyar with a serious look on my face. She winked at me.

"We'll see." She said with a smirk. She looped her arm through mine as we made our way to the last block of the day.

"Dad! I'm home!" I yelled out as I walked through the main foyer. I sat my book bag and car keys in the coat room before making my way into the kitchen. Most people would say that I live in a mansion and I can't disagree. It's two stories, with a foyer, grand staircase, elevator and three-door garage. We have a chef, garden keeper, maid and security team but I'm not a lazy brat who doesn't do anything for herself. My dad works as a lawyer and he's a damn good one. He always talks about how grateful he is to have gotten away from his old lifestyle but he never gets into detail about what it was. All I know is that I have a bodyguard who tails me whenever I go anywhere besides school. It's aggravating most of the time but my dad says it's for my safety.

Once I walked into the kitchen, I was greeted by our chef, Ms. Maria. She was preparing dinner for tonight. The stove top and kitchen counters were full of prep items for our feast.

"Hi Ms. Maria." I said smiling at her. She smiled back, walking around the island to give me a hug. You would think she's a 50-something, strict, Mexican woman but she isn't. She's actually 25 and has become good company around the house when my dad isn't home or Briyar's not around.

"Hi Gabby, how was school?" She asked. I told her about my day and eventually told her that I was going to a party tonight. Her eyebrows creased at the mention of it.

"Have you spoken to your father about it?" She asked. I sighed, shaking my head. You know how I said my dad has someone tailing me ? Well, that should be a give away that he's a little over protective. I don't know exactly what he did in his past, but what would anyone want with me?

A few seconds later, my father walked into the room talking on his cellphone. He had on a suit and dress shoes like always. Once I caught his eye, he smiled at me, opening his arms for a hug.

"Hi Daddy." I said while embraced in his arms. He ended his call, while greeting me back. "How was school?" He asked. I gave him the run down that I just gave Ms. Maria, finally settling upon the party.

"So....there's this party tonight..." I started. My dad raised his brows in question. "And I was wondering..could...I...go..?" I asked hesitantly. He looked at me for a minute.

"A party?"

"Yes. A party."

"And you want to go?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yes, dad I want to go. I never go out and do anything fun. Please. Just this one night. Rico can bring the whole squad if he wants."

My father sat in silence and thought about it. I could tell that he was going through all the pros and cons of letting me go to this high school party. That's something he does when he doesn't want to do something, but knows it's the right thing to do. I just hope he decides to let me go.

My dad sighed and ran his hand over his face, he looked defeated; like he was about to give in. A smile made its way onto mine as I thought about what I was going to wear. Jeans? A skirt? A dress? Most definitely a dress & most definitely that yellow one. I was starting to excited. I haven't been to a party in I don't know how long, but I was happy Briyar talked me into it.

"No."

The smile that was once plastered on my face, immediately dropped. No? Is he serious right now?

"Gabriella, I cant risk it. I'm sorry but you can't go. Invite Briyar over instead and have a movie night." He said. He wore a dominant look on his face and I knew there was no changing his mind. Once my father gives a 'yes' or no' that's it. No more talking about it because he won't change his answer; that's one of the most annoying things about being Daniel Walker's daughter.

I bit my lip to stop myself from saying what I really wanted to say. It took everything in me not to scream at him about how unfair he was being. I never do anything. My life consists of school, home and that one time I had a job but my dad cut that out quick. He won't let me do anything, he has people tailing me and my phone is bugged so he knows where I'm at at all times because I bring my phone everywhere. I'm 18 years old! When is this going to stop?

Instead of arguing with him, I simply nodded and turned on my heel to leave the kitchen. Other teens would fight back or plead their case but thats not how it works around here. Whatever my father says, goes and I have to listen. Times like these are when I really wish my mother was still alive.
