Jughead: I'm going to stay at my dad's for the night. I'll see you tomorrow in school then. I love you ❤️Jughead texted, shortly after school finished. Archie had waited at his locker until now, though started walking out of the school building as he texted him back.
Archie: Okay, love you too <3
To his disappointment, Jughead didn't text him anything else over the day. When the door opened at 10pm, he already had hoped and jumped out of bed in order to head downstairs.
"Oh, dad, it's only you" He said, not being able to hide the disappointment in his face. Fred chuckled.
"Happy to see you too, Archie" Fred said, to which Archie rolled his eyes but then hugged him.
"Sorry, I just hoped that it was Jug"
"Why? He isn't home yet?"
"He said that he would stay at FP's for the night. But I just hoped that he would just come over for some reason"
"Archie, just because you're boyfriends doesn't mean that you have to stick together like glue. He deserves to be with his dad, you know?"
"I know. I just miss him"
"Then how about we go to Pops for a distraction?" Fred suggested and Archie thought for a moment before nodding. The logical solution would be to just go to sleep, he had school tomorrow after all, but he really needed a distraction.
"Okay, let's go then" Fred smiled and pulled him outside. The two drove over to Pops and ordered some food. Archie took a burger menu with french fries and a milkshake and Fred ordered a simply portion of curly fries and a milkshake as well.
After spending some time with his father, talking some bit too, Archie felt tired enough to go to bed. The next morning, he went to school earlier than usually, just to be able to get enough of his boyfriend before school started.
Jughead didn't show up though.
"Hey, Betty?" Archie asked during first break. The four were sitting in the student lounge, Archie having left a couple more messages to Jughead by now.
"What is?"
"Have you heard from Jug?"
"No, I thought that he was sick at yours"
"No, I haven't heard from him since yesterday after school. I mean, he said that he was going to stay at FP for the night but now he isn't at school"
"Maybe he's just suddenly sick?" Veronica suggested, which didn't calm down Archie though. By lunch, he had called him another ten times. Maybe he was a bit overprotective but it was Jughead after all. That boy wouldn't even talk to him and had problems to stay clear of substances. He would probably even walk with a stranger if they asked him to. Of course he worried.
Finally, after school, he couldn't stand it anymore and just called FP. He didn't pick up at first but then answered after the fourth ring of his second call.
"Archie?" He sounded tired.
"FP, I... Is everything okay with Jughead? He said that he was going to stay at yours over night and now he wasn't at school. Plus he doesn't pick up his phone" FP sighed shakily. Archie froze "What's wrong?"
"Archie... Jughead is... He's at the hospital right now"
"What?? Why? What happened?"
"What's going on?" Kevin whispered but Archie shook his head, silencing him.
