Chapter 22

2 days later...

Today is the day when I get discharged from the hospital. The doctor says that I shouldn't do anything with my left arm for a few weeks, maybe even a month and I have to come back every two weeks for check-ups on my injuries. Charles hasn't left my side the last two days. The only time he left was to get me some clothes and get his laptop and some lunch at times. I haven't been talking lately. Thoughts come back from the crash, I remember screaming and yelling for help, before I passed out a man came to my side and he asked me who to call and I said Charles. I didn't even want to call 911, I just wanted Charles by my side and then I can't remember anything after that. I don't know if I passed out or... I'm just trying to put together what happened but it's hard. I see Charles come back into the room and he has a smile on his face.

"You can leave today, I just signed the papers. I'm gonna take you back to my place is that alright?" He walks over to my bad and hold my hand.

"Yes" My voice is still scratchy and my throat hurts. A nurse rolls in with a wheelchair.

"Do you want me to help Mr.Trippy?" The nurse asks Charles.

"I've got it" He smiles politely. The nurse smiles back and she leaves the room without another word.

I'm not wearing one of the hideous gowns that they provide you, I'm in a pair of Charles' sweatpants and black t-shirt of his. The shirt is way too big and it looks like a dress on my small figure. I slowly put my legs over the edge of the bed. I'm afraid to walk. I have small scrapes and bruises across my legs. Charles holds me steadily and walks me to the wheelchair. When I sit down he pushes me to the door and opens it. I am greeted by smiling nurses and goodbyes. I don't recognize any of them but they must have taken care of me.

I my hands into my lap and I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"It's gonna be okay..." Charles says into my ear and I feel his lips press against the top of my head.

My eyes burn with the bright sunlight hitting them and we head to his car. I am put into the passenger side and my buckle is locked into place tightly on my chest. I see Charles walk the wheelchair back to the hospital. When he gets back I'm bringing my knees to my chest. I put my head through the small opening between my knees and I go through my blessings. Me being still alive. Charles not leaving my side. Charles. I couldn't be more thankful for him.

"Are you alright?" I hear his soft voice through the humming of the car turning on.

"Yea, just... I don't know." I say and I'm being honest.

"Just relax, we'll be at my place in no time." He says. He turns up the car radio to fill the empty space in the car, loud enough where I could hear his light humming, and he was right, in the 5 minutes we were in the car we were just pulling into his garage. I didn't hear any barking from Marley, she must not be here. When Charles opens the passenger door I have already unbuckled myself and I'm try to get out. When I'm on my feet, I immediately collapse. I'm to weak to walk, I must look so pathetic to him. But I'm swept off my feet and a arm is hooked under my knees and another arm around my back. He opens the door and I look around, no lights are on except for the sunlight shining through the windows. I hear another door open and I'm laid onto a bed. I look around and Charles turns on the bedside lamp. The warm glow shines on his skin and I'm tucked in like a little kid.

"Call for me if you need anything" He smiles and turns off the lamp.

"No, don't leave." I say. My voice still sounds bad after two days without talking.

With the dark engulfing his face I can still see the smile on his face. He walks over to the other side of the bed and slides into the bed. I instantly scoot over to him and put my head on his chest. An arm is hooked around my waist and I feel safe
