"Guys this is not good." Ramona said as she walked with her friends.

"What do you mean it's not good? Our best friends are friends again." Gus said.

"What about our bet? The part where they make each other happy? I mean they've been all lovey dovey these last two weeks like in high school." Ramona said exasperated.

"They literally friend zoned each other. Again." Lily said as she linked all three of their arms together.

"That's pretty funny if you think about it." Gus snickered.

The two girls looked up to him with a face and Gus stopped laughing.

"Okay we need to put our new bets in." Ramona said finally.

"But Rio isn't here." Lily said sadly.

"Well you snooze you lose, write them down." Mona said as she remembered when they did this in middle school.

They were at their treehouse talking about Evie and Chris and all wrote down their bets and put them in a box. They all lost the box and haven't been able to find it since.

"Okay finished." Augie said as he put the paper into the envelope Ramona was holding.

Lily checked her phone and sighed. "Shoot, I'm late."

"For what?" Gus said as the three of them sat down at their cafe.

"It's mine and Jesses anniversary. I gotta go." She said standing.

"Is he finally going to propose?" Gus said with a voice.

"I know right?" Ramona said matching his energy. "You'd think being together since college and having a baby together would make you want to get married."

"Guys. Don't be lame." She said as her cheeks turned pink. "I'll see you guys later."

She bent down to kiss both her best friends on the cheek before turning around and walking away to her boyfriend.

"You have to admit, Chris and Evie are really cute now." Gus said as he ordered the two of them some croissants.

"I know I know. Our entire friend group was relationship goals in high school. We were popular for some reason. I didn't know that." Ramona said as she but into some of her baked good.

"Really?" Gus said surprised.

"Yeah I didn't know it either. We were always getting invited to parties and all that. Are we...are we hot?"

"I think we are."

"We're the hot girls. Awesome." She high fived him

"Hell yeah we are." He smiled widely.

Ramona called the waiter as they talked and ordered a coffee for herself.

"Ramona Alison Sterling. What in the gentle fuck are you doing?" Gus asked weirdly.

"Oh gentle fuck? Okay. What are you doing?"

"You are pregnant dammit. You are not allowed to have caffeine i think. And I'm talking this gently way because I don't want to scare the baby." He said calmly.

"Or yourself."

"Hey!"

"Yelling makes you scared Augie. Your soft, it's the truth."

"Pfft, I can be tough." He scoffed as all the memories of him being a teddy bear went into his head.

"Of course you can." Ramona said as she pinched his cheeks and kissed his forehead.

"Hey Mona! Tough guys don't take forehead kisses." He said wiping it off.

"But it's a super six tradition - nay - a super eight tradition. You have to accept." She whined.

Gus scrunched his nose adorably in anger and leaned his head forward for Ramona to kiss it again.

"Now come on, we have to meet Evie and Chris for lunch with my parents." She stood.

"Okay." He moped as he picked up his croissant and shuffled away.
