Evelyn ran around to plan Ramona's birthday party. Usually she could care less about these things- but when Ramona said she trusted her completely, something switched.

So she pumped the balloons, she had Lily make a cake (since she had to skills in the kitchen whatsoever), she sent to boys to place the chairs and tables, overall she took care of everything.

Which was really out of character for her. It shocked Chris. He approached her as she wrote the guest list and simultaneously pumped a balloon.

"Hey, Evie." He whispered. By this point they had been dating in secret for a month.

"Hey, Chris." She smiled to him.

"Do you need any help?"

"You don't have to-"

"I want too." He took the ballon pump and pumped the rest of the balloons.

She smiled at him- it was a simple task but a load was taken off her. They sat in silence as she continued the guest list.

"under the mask of the moon,
could we dance in the past?"

Evelyn ran around planning Ramona's baby shower. Now she thought these type of these were for white people and tried to talk Ramona out of it. But it was taking her mind off Rio being gone. And that was important to Evie.

So she got the guest list, and she ordered an ice sculpture, and she sent workers to set the tables and chairs.

Lily was the other godmother, so she'd be stressing next week for the gender reveal party. (Which Evelyn also tried to talk her out of).

"Well hello." Chris came up behind her.

She was walking through the halls and making random orders. Taking charge was very out of character for her. Chris struggled to keep up even though she was 6'1 and she was only 5'10.

"Hey, Chris." She answered hastily. "Hey idiot I need this at table three- it's for the kids." She told a random worker.

"So- need any help?" He backed up when she picked up a platter and held it in front of a worker.

"Are you a dumbass? Cause you look like a big one when you leave shit like this out." She set it in the man's hands. "Take to kitchen. Understand?" She talked loudly and slowly as if he were a child.

"Yes ma'am." He walked away.

"So you're intense today." Chris smiled.

"Sort of- Mona's really looking forward to this party."

"Can I help with anything?"

"You don't have t-"

"I want to." He put a hand on her shoulder. "What do you need?"

She stopped for a moment. "The tables still aren't set up and there's another statue that needs to be picked up since they don't deliver it."

"Perfect. I'll set up the tables and send Gus to get the statue." He smiled.

She appreciated him. "Could you also check on Lily and Ramona for me. She's keeping our guest of honor occupied today so she doesn't cry."

"Of course."

He walked away to handle everything Evelyn said. Evie made her rounds and after two hours- everything was perfect.

"Ah! Lyn! This is amazing!" Ramona came out in her red dress that showed off her small baby bump and marveled at the sight.

There were flowers, balloons, ice sculptures. This was perfect.

"Ay my lazy bum turned into my perfect hero." Mona kissed Evie's cheek. "Thank you."

"Yeah yeah." She waved it off but hugged her.

"Enjoy your day, love." Evelyn sent her off.

She sat in her assigned seat and took a deep breath. What a tiring week.

"This seat taken?" Chris asked.

"Reserved for amazing male friends."

"Well then I'll happily take a seat." He smiled to her. "How do you feel?"

"Fine. Why?" She furrowed her brows in confusion.

"Just checking on you. Besides acting I've never seen you work so hard before."

"Okay- where does everyone get the idea that i'm lazy?" She waved her hands.

"Last week netflix asked 'are you still watching' and you waited till it turned off so you could cast from your phone cause you didn't want to get up."

"That's just being smart."

He laughed and she joined. "It's a good party you set up here , James."

"Thanks, Wood."

"Wanna slow dance like awkward teenagers?" He held out a hand.

"I'd love nothing more." She joked as she took his hand.

He twirled her around and the two fell into a comfortable speed of dance. She looked up at him and remembered how pretty his eyes were. Just the darkest shade of blue.

She laid her head on his chest and he felt like the world was in his hands. It's like they were both taken back to their school days.

Hours later everyone went home. Evelyn went to shower and Chris opened the package that was waiting for him.

"Aha! Yes!" His dusty ten year old phone was fixed.

He turned it on and went through his emails, checked his messages and listened to his voicemails.

The last one was from Evelyn. "Hmm." He said as he opened it.

'big ol crush on you' Repeated over and over.

"Hey you good?" Evelyn asked coming out of the bathroom with her hair wet. She had a blue tank top and grey sweats on.

He quickly turned his phone off. "All good." He smiled.

She nodded and sat on the couch. He looked to her and set his phone down. Leaving that for another day.
