" You'll realise soon enough that the enemy often knows you better than you do Joe", Max continued his summon as he split the logs with a mighty hit from his axe. I listened with interest as I was beginning to gain something from his words.
" And where is this coming from?", I asked curiously.
He looked at me, sighed and said," From my ex".
" You mean Miss Guinevere?".
" Yep. I fell in love at first sight, thought we were met to be and always will be. Until I discovered she was a spy, was already engaged to the leader of a terrorist group and was stealing sensitive information that helped them progressed against us. When the bitch found out, she tried to kill me but failed. Even at that, I was half killed myself. Why? Because she knew me better than I knew myself".
" So what do you suggest that I do?", I asked.
" Learn their own weaknesses, and capitalize on their ignorance. The boastful mouth makes a lot of noise, but a wise tongue has the last laugh".
If what Max said at that time is true, then it would be harder to do it to this Vector zombie instead. The brute beat the crap out of me like I didn't even knew how to fight. Even when I gave up on guns and resorted to close combat, it would laugh and humiliate me with it's brutal strength. With that part hopeless, I picked up an iron rod and threw it at the beast in other to escape. It dodged it easily and laughed wickedly as it walked towards me with murderous intent.
I took a sharp turn to my right and overturned a bookshelf to block it's path. I rested against a wall because of the pains I got from the earlier fight. I pulled out the only pistol I had from beneath my clothes and waited for the brute to come out. Once it did, I fired immediately, but it dodged the bullet without even seeing it, and laughed so hard that it made a funny face at me. I opened fire again, but this time it was a careless shot. The zombie didn't reacted to the second shot, knowing fully well that it would never hit it.
I fled towards the large living room and hid. The zombie came and inspected the place. It smiled and licked its chops, making small laughs that could drive any man crazy.
" Creator, why are you hiding from me? Come out and be a man. Death has it's own reward", it spoke aloud to my hearing.
I hid behind a short coach, my heart racing intensely as I began to map out a plan. All of a sudden, the zombie suspected the coach where I was, crept close to it and quickly checked the back to see if someone was there. It found no one, much to it's disappointment, and stood up straight only to get speared at the stomach by me.
The zombie was stronger than I had thought. It managed to maintain his balance and fought back against the struggle. It won by striking my stomach with it's right leg and head butting my head with it's own head. It grabbed my shirt with it's right hand and held me close to it.
" Don't act like you are wise, Creator. Your intelligence is nothing in my sight", it said in a mocking tone.
" Screw you. I care less about what you say", I replied arrogantly.
" Oh? And what brought out such arrogant words?".
" Take a good look below", I replied with a smirk on my face.
The zombie felt something touching it's stomach. It looked down to see my gun aimed at it's belly. Without thinking twice, I pulled the trigger. And as expected, it survived. It moved so fast that it dodged the bullet on time and threw me forward. However, it gasped, spit out blood and held the scar made by the bullet on it's left side. It gnashed it's teeth in frustration and looked at me with anger. Then he held my sudden laughter, and knew that I was up to something.
" What's so funny to make you laugh?", it asked." You weren't able to kill me".
I got back to my feet and replied," True. But at least I made you bleed".
" Don't act so cocky. Spill the beans and tell me what you've been planning".
" So desperate to know huh? Alright, I'll tell you. Everything that happened earlier was just an experiment to determine your abilities. No range projectiles can hit you because your nervous system emits a radiation that detects them within a large radius. You possess no super speed, but a very fast reaction speed, faster than that of an average human being. However, your speed has it's limits, and going beyond that might lead to certain death".
" Hmph. Guess I've misjudged you then. Unlucky for you though, that's a weakness you can't place your bet on".
" I guess you're right. But, I could also say that you're wrong", I said and pointed the gun at it.
" I thought you now know that you can never shoot me. Why try again?".
" Because I found a more interesting weakness than the first", I replied and pointed the gun upwards. I opened fire at a chain holding a Chandelier, causing the large object to crash on the zombie. The kinetic energy generated by the Chandelier was enough to pierce it's back and pin it to the ground.
I walked over to the defeated brute and said," You have no reaction speed to objects not targeted at you, so I used that to capitalize on your ignorance. Looks like I got the last laugh".
The zombie didn't reply. It just started laughing, even though it knew it was about to die. It raised it's head up to look at me, then smiled and said," I guess I'll be the one having the last laugh then".
" And why do you say that?", I asked, feeling somehow uneasy at it's mocking behaviour.
" I've done my master's bidding. Distract the Creator, while the rest captures the target".
What! I thought. That means...
I suddenly heard Blue scream from upstairs. When that happened, the zombie laughed it's hardest, then rested it's head on the floor and died. I raced up the stairs and barged into Blue's room, only to find an empty bed and a broken window. I looked out through the window and saw Blue being carried away by Militans admist his screams.
