Gabriel's POV
The feeling of her lips on mine makes my mind go blank and my heart starts to beat out of my chest. My wolf is howling with joy. I thought I was going to be rejected like Belle had asked me to do but instead I am now kissing her.
Before I can finish getting over my initial shock and deepen the kiss Belle ends it and moves away. She pulls away from me but keeps her hands on my cheeks.
"Are you better now?" She slowly asks.
My mouth feels drier than the Sahara desert and all I can do is nod.
She sighs, removes her hands, then tries to move away but I grab her hands before she can get too far. I'm not letting her move away from me right now. I pull her off of the floor and sit her down on the bed next to me. I give her space but still stay close.
"I will not be the one to reject you, do you understand?" She assured me while I nod. "You have to be the one to reject me."
I grab her body with a snap and pull her onto my lap. "I will not reject you." I roared at her. My wolf is snapping inside at the thought of losing our mate. I stare deep into her gray eyes. "As I keep stating I will not lose you so stop asking me to do so." I can feel my eyes flashing between mine and my wolves.
She sighs loudly and tries to get off my lap but I tighten my grip on her. Belle rolls her eyes at my actions before turning to look at me. "Gabriel let me go."
"No," I growl.
"Fine." She deeply breathes in then suddenly my back is flat to the ground and Belle is standing over me staring down at me. My eyes are wide with shock. How did she do that?
"Now we need to really talk." I watch from the ground while she walks back over to the desk and sits down on top of it. I push myself off of the ground and sit back down on the bed. She nods before continuing. "Now I need you to listen to me before jumping to conclusions or assuming the worst, got it?"
"Am I allowed to ask questions, ma'am?" I sass her.
Her gray eyes flash with annoyance. "You keep sassing me and I will leave you in the dark as to what the deal is."
"Sorry I'll stop now."
"Thank you." She mutters, "Now to get to the point I was not supposed to have a mate."
I whimper at the thought that Clarabelle was not supposed to be destined for me.
She looks down at the desks and plays with a pen as if she is distracting herself from me. "After I become a hybrid and the Queen took an even greater liking to me she wanted to make me her heir as she refused to marry which meant no kids. In order to determine if I was the best fit as I am not fully fae, she captured an Oracle in order to learn of my fate. The Oracle had informed her that while I was a hybrid I would grow to be more fae than a wolf and I would not take on the characteristics and normalities of a wolf, like having a mate."
"But how is that even possible?"
Her eyes finally snap to mine, "Well obviously this was not the case because we are mates."
"Exactly. Which is why I don't understand what is happening here." She sighs and rubs her forehead, "I will contact the Oracle and she should be able to tell me what is going on."
"But how are we supposed to catch an Oracle?" I ask confused.
Belle chuckles, "Unlike my adopted mother I happen to get along with people and I built a good relationship with the Oracle so she will respond to my call for help."
