Chapter Ten

Abbie's POV

        After the show Shawn and I went back up to our room, hand in hand.  "I can't believe this!" I exclaimed. "I am actually dating Shawn Mendes." 

        "And I am actually dating Abbie Gilinsky." He said turning to me.  "You know that ever since Jack showed me a picture of you, I knew I would find a way to make you mine?" He said moving closer.

        "Well did you know that ever since Jack showed me one of your vines, I knew that I would end up with you?"

        "Well isn't that a coincidence?" He said closing the gap inbetween us. I don't think i'd ever been this happy, well at least not since- I pulled back from our kiss. 

        "Abbs, is something wrong?" Shawn said, looking concerned.  "Are you having second thoughts, because I completely understand if you do. I mean there were a lot of people you could've been pressured into saying yes. OH MY GOSH I CAN"T BELIEVE I MADE YOU DO SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T EVEN WANT TO DO!"

        "Shawn, of course not. I said yes because I wanted to, not because I felt pressured."

        "Then why did you pull away?" He said frowning. 

        "Jack told you abut my ex didn't he?" I asked. Shawn nodded. "Shawn, I loved him. I honestly thought we'd be together forever. Which of course was stupid because we were both 15. When I found out he was cheating on me, with my best friend no less, I was heartbroken.  On top of that they both twisted it back around to make it look like everything was my fault.  Everyone pushed me away, bullied me I guess.  I ended up leaving my school and becoming home schooled because of it.  I haven't been able to date anyone else. I guess i've been scared of getting hurt again." I said.

        "Oh Abbie," Shawn said bringing me in for a hug. "I promise that I will never,ever, be like that jerk. I know this is really soon to be saying this, but I mean it.  Abbie, I love you.  I could never hurt you like that."

        I stared into his eyes for a moment and then pressed my lips to his.  

        In that moment I realized that I needed to let go of the past.  The future may not be perfect, but it won't be like the past.  For now it was just me and Shawn, and I wanted to keep it that way.
