𝘈 𝘭𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘰..

I could never understand why lineage was important. Why it was a big deal and why I was always sheltered because of my family. Questions arose from everyone I met,'What's your family name?'
'Who is your mother?'
'Is the reason you're alone because your ancestors were on the Dark Side?'
I could never answer because I wasn't allowed to. Mother always told me that bad people asked questions. That the bad people would find me if they found out.
I didn't realize until I was nine that my mother was Force sensitive. She had hid it so well that the first time I lifted a cup by accident, I dropped it. I lied about why there were ceramic shards all over the floor, I said I had thrown it it. She asked why and I couldn't come up with a quick enough answer and so she told me. She told me who we were and why we had to be anonymous. Then she decided to train me.
It wasn't easy since your own family is always your worst critic. I was constantly scolded but never punished. Just the disappointment alone tore me apart and was punishment enough. I almost had enough when I turned fifteen and I had gotten burnt for the eighth time by the blaster droid while wearing a blinding helmet, a wooden stick as big as a lightsaber clutched in my hands. She told me I couldn't stop until I had blocked one blast. Another blast burnt my skin and I threw the helmet at the droid, making it burst into flames.
Mother stared at me with silent disappointment and blinked before closing her eyes. She sat down on the group and put her palms onto the dirt, breathing in and out with poise. The blaster droid began to move and it was suddenly back into action, the flames suddenly disappearing. It started moving a million directions like it was about to blast something again before a whoosh sound cracked into the air and I see a green glow out of the corner of my eye. A blast was directed at my mother and I look to see the blast bounce off a real, genuine lightsaber. Another blast from the floating droid and the lightsaber reflected it, hitting the droid and taking it down in smoke one last time before it's blinking red light turned off.
I turn to face my mother and see she's holding a lightsaber with a green blade and a silver handle. It was mesmerizing as the blade oozed with light, a light green color beautifully reflected onto my mother's red, graying hair as she opens her eyes and the lightsaber turns off. I find myself holding a face of awe, my mouth gaping open. I snap it shut as she sighs,"I've been waiting to let you use this and, as of now, you're still not ready."
I blinked and felt my heart sink before she said,"But you will. Soon."
She stuffs the silver tube into her belt before she tossed me the long stick again and grabs one for herself.
"You're not done today until you defeat an opponent. So..let's get going, shall we?"

The day I turned sixteen, my mother told me I was going somewhere. She didn't specifically tell me where but she made a point to keep everything a secret so why not this?
We packed most of my necessities before we boarded the old ship that's been unused for as long as I can remember, I thought it was strange to actually go inside of it since I had never been allowed to before. Surprisingly, it was clean and had shiny new seats and a sparkling floor, nothing like the barnacle crusted outside of it. I sat down in the passengers seat next to my mother whom was currently calibrating the coordinates to get to where we needed to be. I could see a small hologram of a planet that looked quite dry with very small patches of water, I was already excited just by looking at it.
As we had taken off, I felt my entire body start vibrating with excitement. I had never been off my planet before and I didn't think I ever would until that day. Mother was quiet and I figured that was a requirement for me as well. We rode in almost complete silence, the ship creaked and groaned every so often, confirming that it hadn't been used in years.
I fell asleep at some point and woke up to my mother opening the hatch with a hiss. It surprised me that I wouldn't have woken up during landing..maybe the old space bird was actually as soft as it was loud.
I stepped out of the ship with a smile on my face and couldn't help but feel excited to see people.
I had interacted with people before but only very rarely. Strangely, I felt no anxiety surrounding this place. If anything, I felt at home.
Mother started grabbing my things and I helped her as we made our way towards a bunch of circles of huts, a bigger one on the center of all of them. We entered it, the darkness almost muffling before I see a figure move in the darkness and speak in a calm voice,"Ah, Astra."
The person came into the sliver of light from the crack of the door from outside and I saw a middle aged man with blond, graying hair. He looked about the same age as my mother whom he had just addressed,"It's so nice to see you after all these years."
"And you, as well," she held out her arms as he embraced her in a tight hug. I shuffled my feet as she pulled away and the man asked,"Is this she?"
"Yes, and she is prepared fo anything you throw at her. She is as advanced as any child here." My mother placed her hands on my shoulders, a comforting gesture.
The man stepped in front of me and kneeled down to my height which wasn't much shorter than him in his older age, he gave me a puzzling look before he asked,"Do you have any questions?"
"Who are you and what am I doing here?" My mother tightens her grip on my shoulders, I couldn't tell if it was in anger of having the audacity to ask or in sadness of having to let me go. I think it was a mixture of both.
"I am Luke Skywalker..and you, Mona Kenobi, are going to become a Jedi Master."
