"Is the Visa ready for her to come here?" mom was talking grossly on the phone to someone.
It is June and the holiday was about to start soon. A holiday that I enjoyed the most as schools will conduct camps and have other activities for those who are not going overseas. obviously me.
"Tawfik will be alright bring her here alone right? Anyways, ask him to bring some sweets from Nagore" she continued talking. Nagore is a village in India just right beside ours. It's known best for its variety of delicious, diabetic, mouth-watering sweets.
Gulab Jamun, Palkova, Kesari, Payasam, and more. I, unfortunately, don't have a sweet tooth.
Wait... hold a minute. Tawfik anna is coming where? Here? Tawfik is Makbull's older brother (aka my cousin brother). Is he coming here? so... who is the 'her'. I wanted to eavesdrop. But we shouldn't eavesdrop... "Allah please close your eyes this one time okay. Next time I'll control myself :)" SATAN always has his excuses, am I right?
"The key to good eavesdropping is not getting caught."
― Lemony Snicket,
So did I. I gently pressed my head against the bathroom door. Just enough to clearly hear the echos of the lioness voice bouncing within the washroom.
"Don't know what she is going to do here, Sabrunnsiha. I am a bit annoyed that she has to follow your son here. Why won't she just tour around in India? Isn't it unfair for us to welcome guest from a garbage family? Why is our father-in-law so gullible and timid that he expects everyone to be nice to each other?" she bellowed. Sabrunnisha was Tawfik and Makbull's mother, my AUNT.
But who is she talking about though? In split seconds, my curiosity was peaked, and I focused like a cat fixated upon its prey. I pressed my head further against the door.
"Yes yes, I know I know. I have to hide Meeya from her. Don't forget she is Ajiha's older sister. She would have the same ulterior motive." she sneered.
FATIMA Aunty is coming here!!!!!!!!! OMG! SHE IS FARIM'S MOTHER'S OLDER SISTER! Wait does she know about us? Can she help us? Is she coming here to check on me? Whether I am beautiful or ugly or am I right for him? My thoughts were twisting and turning; suffocating me with the devil's whispers. Let me listen more... just a few more info and I AM DONE.
I pressed my ears slightly harder. Yes, I could hear her now. More clearly. I hear Farim's name. Is he coming too? CURIOSITY WAS OVERFLOWING LIKE THE VOLCANIC LAVA.
