Finn's POV
"Finn, come on, please. I wanna get out of here." Elijah pleaded.
We live in the same household ever since Elijah's parents took me in and adopted me when I was 6 years old. The reason why he is pleading right now was simply because he wanted to get away from his mum's nagging.
"And give me one good reason why I have to follow you?" I crossed my arms over my chest as I looked at him.
"I just needed company. It's as simple as that Finn." he brushed his fingers over his hair and I can tell he is already feeling annoyed right now.
I sighed, "Where do you wanna go to this time round?" This isn't the first time that Elijah has dragged me out with him whenever his parents are arguing because of him. Though I've gotten used to it, I was just honestly not in the mood to go out today.
"Anywhere as long as we're not here." He says as he picked up his phone, wallet and car keys. I knew I couldn't say or do anything to stop him from pestering me so I followed him out of his room.
"And where do you think you're going, Elijah? Finn?" His mum, or to say, our mum asked just as we're about to head out.
"Oh um...we're planning to meet our friends for a gathering at a nearby restaurant." I said as I struggled to find an excuse. After all, this isn't the first time that Elijah has tried to run away after the arguments that they had.
"Don't be home so late." His mum said as she gave us a skeptical look.
We both headed out into Elijah's black porsche and drove off. I honestly had no idea where we're headed to right now.
"I don't really get why Dad's just forcing me to work at his company. He knows more than anyone else how much I hate getting involved in all this business matters!" Elijah said with frustration.
"Hey, it's not as bad as you think. I mean, I've worked there for quite some time now, and really, you get to learn a lot of new things man." I tried to comfort him somehow.
"Learn new things my ass. It's all business, and you're just forced to make yourself look professional, being in a suit and everything, making deals with other companies. There's no fun in it. I rather race all night than to be sitting in the office all day long." He was speeding, a little over the speed limit by now and I've got to admit, I'm fearing for my life.
"Come on Elijah. Why don't you just try? At least for a day, to listen to what Mum and Dad has said?" I looked at him whose brows are furrowed.
He threw me a smug look and tried to fight back an excuse, "Listen? Listen to them? Hey man that may be you, but I'm not that kind of person who obeys what everyone else around me is saying. No one tells me what to do." His eyes was not even looking at where he was driving as he looked at me angrily.
I looked back at the road only realising too late that there was a girl who was cycling our way. I shouted at Elijah telling him to stop the car immediately but we were too late as we accidentally ran over her. I panicked and quickly got off the car, approaching whoever that we had ran into.
She had long wavy brunette hair, and wore a red sweater with light blue jeans that has a slight ripped on the right knee area. I reached out my hand as she slowly grabbed it and I pulled her up carefully.
"Are you alright? I'm so sorry, my friend didn't mean to run over you on purpose." I asked her as I looked at her worriedly.
"It's okay. And I'm....I'm okay. Thanks for asking." she said as she gave me a small smile and she bend over to picked up her bicycle that has fallen over too. 'What a pretty smile she has.' I thought to myself but quickly shoved the thoughts away. She was about to walk away and that's when I realised that her right palm was bleeding and she was limping somehow. She must've hurt her ankle too.
I guess she noticed that I was looking at her bleeding palm because she quickly tried to hid it behind her back. I was about to say something when Elijah shouted from his car. "Hey Finn! What the hell are you doing man? Come on!"
I ignored Elijah as I looked back at the girl and tried to stop her, "Hey um..you don't look okay, assuming that your right palm is bleeding and looking at how you're limping, you can't possibly cycle with that injury."
She was about to say something when Elijah came walking towards us. "What the hell man? We've got to go!" He said angrily. I swear I don't understand his temper sometimes.
"Look, she got hurt because of us. We can't just let her go off in this state. She can barely walk moreover cycle." I glanced at the girl as she took a glance at Elijah.
"Do I look like I care? And plus it's not entirely my fault. She was the one who was cycling recklessly probably." Elijah voiced back as he crossed his arms over his chest.
I honestly can't believe this guy. "Look, now's not the time for you to act all snobby. The thing is, she's all injured. Just look at her palms, it's bleeding!'" I carefully took hold of her bleeding palms, trying to prove a point to Elijah.
"I...I'm okay...really. I think I can manage. Plus, the place that I'm heading towards is just nearby." She gave me a small smile, probably trying to reassure me that she's fine. She slowly walked away from us, limping, but I stopped her again. There's no way I'm letting her go off in that state.
"Come on, we'll drive you to wherever that you're headed to now. Please, just let me help you. This is the least that I can do after accidentally running over you." I pleaded.
I caught her sighing before she slowly made her way towards the back seat of Elijah's porsche. I took her bicycle and placed it at the boot of the car before opening the back seat door for her. I threw a smile her way and I swear I caught her blushing. 'That's...kinda cute.' I thought as I mentally chuckled.
Throughout the ride, we sat awkwardly in silence. I could tell Elijah was not happy with the idea of having a stranger in his car but I couldn't care less. This is the least that we can do to help her after running over her. We finally arrived at the destination that she has given us only to realised that we stopped right in front of a café named "The Brooke's Alley." It looked familiar, like a place that I've seen before but I couldn't recall any memory of ever being here. I guess she worked here or something.
She slowly got out of the car and I helped her with her bicycle. Elijah stayed put in his car, not even bothering to apologise to this girl that he had ran into. 'Typical Elijah and his attitude.' I thought to myself.
"Thank you, though you don't have to. And um...tell your friend I said sorry. I really didn't mean to cause any trouble.." She said, guilt in her voice.
"No worries. Just about time, we're also hungry." I said as I called out Elijah who was still sitting in the car. We both followed behind her as we entered the café.
