Mia's POV
"Mia, have you forgotten what the doctor had advised you to do? You should've just rested at home instead of coming here. Plus, Sofia's here today to help out." Tyler said as I watched him clear off the dirty plates left on the tables.
"Tyler's right Mia. Tyler and I can manage the cafe. Your ankle is still recovering." Sofia voiced out as she wiped off the area at the drinks counter.
"You both know well of how Aunt Gianna and Kennedy are...I'll rather be here than to face their non-stop beatings. Also, my ankle is no longer swollen okay? I'm fine now." I threw them a reassuring smile. It's true, my ankle is no longer sprained anymore. Probably just a little swollen, but it wasn't as bad as before. I can already walk normally without having to limp anymore.
As the cafe was slowly filling up with more and more customers, we focused on work and attending to customers than to continue bickering about me. Hours and hours passed by and it was finally time to close the cafe. I told all the other staff to just head back home once they're done changing out of their work outfit as Tyler, Sofia, and I helped with cleaning the cafe. I purposely didn't bring along my bicycle since Sofia is here with us today and decided to just walk home with them. It always feels nice to be spending time with them than to be all cooped up at home, having to face Aunt Gianna and Kennedy. We walked side by side, as Tyler placed his hands over both Sofia's and I's shoulders.
The walk home was only filled with laughter and of course, the non-stop bickering from Tyler and Sofia. Just before we reached my house, Tyler decided to bring up the matter about how I met Finn and Elijah, in which she fumed with anger. I glared at Tyler, to which he instantly regretted ever opening up his mouth.
"Why didn't you tell me about it? And here I was, thinking that it was probably another one of Kennedy's evil job." Sofia looked hurt knowing that I chose to keep this a secret.
"Sofia, I'm sorry okay? I didn't mean it that way. It's just it's not like it's anything serious, it was just an accident anyways." I held her hands, in hopes that she would accept my explanation. She sighed, as her eyes turned soft, "Promise me there won't be any secrets between us anymore okay?" I nodded and just in time, we reached our house. They hugged me as I waved goodbye.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
*a week after*My phone notification went off and I checked to see that it was a text message from Sofia. "I was invited to a party that is held by one of my modeling friends. She told me that I can bring along anyone that I wanted to, would you mind tagging along?" She texted. "A party? But it's been long since I last been to one, and you know I'm not into those things..." I replied, hoping that she would ask someone else to accompany her instead. "Aww Mia, please :( You're my best friend anyways. Just this once please....." I knew she was going to use the best friend card. "Fine. But promise me, it's just for this once." I sighed before clicking the send button. I can't believe I agreed on this.
Sofia told me that she would come over to help me with the makeover though I refused the idea. The last time I actually dolled myself up was probably last year, when both my parents were still here with me. A tear rolled down my cheeks unknowingly just by the thought of them. 'I miss you, Mum and Dad.' Just then, Kennedy barged in my room, with her arms crossed over his chest.
"Your ugly rude ass friend is here." She said in annoyance. They never really do get along in the first place. I stood up, "Alright, thanks for telling me, Kennedy." She scoffed before walking away.
I led Sofia into my room as she straight away plopped onto my bed. "Geez, I hate that woman. How can you even survive living with her in the same house?" I knew she was referring to Kennedy and I chuckled looking at her. "Where's Tyler? Isn't he tagging along too?" I asked as I sat beside her on the bed. "Well, that nerdy says he has some family dinner to attend to. So it's just us for tonight." She said as she got up, clapping her hands together.
