Dandelionpaw was aware of some cat helping her limp back to camp.
Uh...she groaned inwardly, wincing at the pain in her chest.
"You're lucky that's your only serious wound; you didn't end up like Rashpelt,"a voice above her ear jolted her back into full consicousness.
It was Starflame's white fur that had been pillowing her.
"W...what happened?"her voice shook; she couldn't bare it.
"Hawkpelt almost killed me, Rashpelt lept in the way,"Starflame gulped,"And died,"
"I'm so s...sorry! I tried to help but-"
"No, I'm glad you couldn't,"her friend sighed,"You'd be in StarClan if you had,"
"Why would Rashpelt save you?"she croaked.
"Any Clanmate would,"
Dandelionpaw exhaled as they staggered back to camp. Nightfur and Goldenpod were carrying the body of Rashpelt between them.
"Thank you, Rashpelt,"she whispered into the breeze, forgetting what he'd done to her.
It was a long trek back to camp. When they reached it, Acornbelly ran over to them.
"Did we win?"she squeaked, tail brushing out with embarrassment.
Only then did she remember that she did not know.
"No, we lost,"Lightstar set down Rashpelt's body,"By a lot,"
"No! My precious kit!"Underforge sprinted over and covered her dead son with licks,"Wake up! Wake up!"
Kiterose padded up to his mother and brother. He murmured something in Underforge's ear and they allowed the patrol to bring his body into the middle of the camp. When he was there, the family wept together. Firethroat stared at them blankly; he'd never visited the brothers or their mother in the nursery and Dandelionpaw wondered if he even knew who Rashpelt was.
"C'mon, let's get you to Thorntail," Starflame meowed.
She followed her in, pain jolting through her chest.

They passed their assessment. While Dandelionpaw was recovering for half a moon, Frostedrose and Breezeshine had earned their warrior names.
And it's my turn today!
"Good luck, Dandelionpaw!"Starflame called.
"Thanks, sister!"
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" Lightstar yelled.
Dandelionpaw inhaled. She glanced at Thorntail, who was glaring at her.
You have to become a medicine cat!
He seemed to yowl silently.
"Bugfrost, is Dandelionpaw ready for-"
"Yes!"Bugfrost snapped; he'd be joining the elders soon.
"Then I call upon my warrior anscestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code and I commend her a warrior in her turn. Dandelionpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code, and to protect your Clanmates, even at the cost of your life?"he asked
"I...I..."she gazed into Thorntail's begging eyes,"No,"
Several gasped urrupted from behind her. Out of the corner of her eye, Damdelionpaw spotted Starflame doing a face-paw.
"Why?"Lightstar demmanded.
"Because I have to be medicine cat," she bowed her head,"Please, can you apprentice me to Thorntail?"
Lightstar hesitated,"I...I wasn't expecting that. But very well. Thorntail, you will take on Dandelionpaw, StarClan honours you for your wisdom and accurate interpatations,"
Dandelionpaw touched her nose to the crazy tom's, ignoring the stench that came off him.
Great StarClan, I better not have done this for nothing!
