Dandelionshade's fear (COMPLETE)

CHAPTER 2

Dandelionkit dreamed. She dreamed that she was running through a forest, fear driving her every pawstep. In the pitch black, she was unsure if she'd turned blind in her sleep.
Help! She silently wailed. Anybody! Save me!
Pain seared through her. She cried out. She was running at full pelt now, petrified as she couldn't control her own movements. Dandelionkit was tiring, wondering how long she'd be her. Then a thought shot terror through her blood.
What if I'm trapped here...forever?
"No! No! No!"she yowled, a sinister energy powering her legs.
"No!"she gasped. Fear blinded her, and she realised that she was in a small clearing. There was someone sat in one of the trees. Dandelionkit didn't care. Blood dripped from her claws and jaws as she collasped. No. I don't want to die here...
But she didn't have the strength to go on fighting. No.

A voice jolted Dandelionkit awake.
I'm still in the forest...
"Hello, Dandelionkit,"a voice as smooth as the breeze came from the tree.
"He...he...hello..." What do I do?
For the first time, she realised that there were no stars. No moon. But... how is that possible? The utter panic still froze her to the spot.
"I have got a message for you. Share it with no one,"it was a small yellow she-cat.
"But shouldn't you go to Thorntai..."
But she'd already begun.
"You will be trapped here forever if you don't destroy the Clans,"
"Destroy the Clans!"she rasped,"No! What do you mean?"
"I mean go and get some food with your siblings!"
Dandelionkit jerked awake. Dotfur was leaning over her, rolling her eyes.
"Huh?"she wheezed.
"Go. And. Get. Some. Fresh. Kill," Dotfur sighed.
"Oh, right,"she padded out of the den. Frostedkit and Breezekit were fighting over a sparrow while Applekit chewed a small shrew. Dandelionkit watched her brother and sister squabble, but couldn't sum up any amusement. Her dream was still troubling her.
Destroy the Clans? I'm not going to destroy the Clans!
"Well if it isn't Zigzagkit,"Kitekit sneered.
Oh for StarClan's sake.
"Hi Kitekit, Rashkit,"she sighed.
"Oh, she said hi to us,"Rashkit laughed,"We could become a fun trio. Rashwind, Kitefur and Zigzagkit!"
"What are you talking about?" Dandelionkit asked cautiously.
"Oh for StarClan's sake,"Rashkit hissed,"Your makings will alert all prey and all enemies. Lightstar will never make you a warrior. I mean, what'll he call you? Zigzagface!"
"Ha!"the two toms moonwalked away, leaving a hurt Dandelionkit.
"Remember what I said, Dandelionkit,"she stared up to see Starpaw.
Her only reply was a sigh and a shake of her head.
"Well, I have news,"Starpaw continued,"The dawn patrol encountered a fox and that mea..."
"You get to fight it!"she interrupted.
Starpaw blinked,"No. Stonebrook was on the patrol. He hurt his shoulder so I have a day off training! I can play with you,"
"Really? That's how you want to spend your day?"
Starpaw looked alarmed,"Well of course I mean..."she shifted her paws in embaressment,"We're best friends...aren't we?"
We're best friends?
"Yes,"she purred, earlier anxiety vanishing.
"Great. Let me just get some food. I'm starving!"
"You can have mine,"Dandelionkit pushed her vole,"I'm not hungry,"
"Oh...okay," with some reluctance, Starpaw took the vole feom her.
"Yum! Thanks,"
"It's fine..."
"Dandelionkit,"Starpaw hesitated,"Are you alright?"
She opened her mouth.
"No I'm not. Those meanies Rashkit and Kitekit keep bullying me,"a sneer interrupted her.
"Kitekit. Rashkit,"Starpaw sighed.
"Oh hello, Starpaw. Uh. Why are you wasting time with Zigzagface?" Rashkit taunted.
"More like Strangemark,"Kitekit smirked.
The brothers giggled.
"I'm hanging out with Dandelionkit because she doesn't tease her denmates because of the way they look,"Starpaw defended her.
"That's because the only one who looks weird, is herself,"Rashkit tortmented. The bullies moonwalked away.
"I know. I need to defend myself,"she sighed,"But if hanging out with me makes you get picked on, leave me,"
Dandelionkit walked away, head hanging low. The cat's words still echoed around her head.
