Chapter 11
Artemis fell to her knees. "EVERYONE!" she shouted, at the top of her lungs. "COME OUT!" The gods and goddesses lumbered sleepily to where she was kidnapped.
"Artemis, what happened?"
"Demeter... she was kidnapped!"
They all opened their eyes widely. "Again? Another one?" Athena asked.
"Yes!"
"How did you know, and why did it happen outside your house?"
"Demeter was at my house. We were trying to contact Apollo."
"What?"
"Listen! We are twins, I can contact him through my mind. Apollo said that the kidnapper wore all black and had something blue on him. As soon as Demeter left, I heard a scream and rapidly ran out to see what was happening, but saw the kidnapper leave."
"Well, luckily, we have a new clue. The kidnapper has some sort of connection to blue, it could be something that he wears on his clothes."
"Maybe a brooch?" Hera suggested.
"I doubt it. He said it was only a speckle."
"At least we have a clue. It may be only one, but it is better than none. We also know that the person wears black. You two were not vigilant enough. No one is to be at someone else's house after midnight, or near that time anyway. Especially now. He strikes after midnight, so stay particularly cautious then." The gods all left for sleep then, heeding his warning.
Two weeks had passed. Artemis always tried to contact Apollo and Demeter to see if they were okay, but she never could. Eros seemed to have changed, he became a darker, sadder character. Many said that the stress of the investigation was getting to him, as all this pressure was on his hands. He always made sure the rules were enforced. The kidnapper seemed to be reluctant to strike again, some thought he had given up, but many others thought that he would strike again and was just waiting for the perfect time.
That night, as the sun was setting, Athena heard a strong whoosh of wind and the crackling of a fire. She immediately ran about the houses, thinking it was the kidnapper and saw some black mist as it hovered over a house. She ran into the house to see nothing, only a portrait, a portrait of Hermes. She knew that Hermes had been taken, and it must have happened very quickly as he didn't scream. She suddenly heard another whoosh, a big wave of water and the same crackling sound. She ran into Poseidon's house, as he may have used the water for protection as he was the god of the sea after all, and his pet seahorse in the big tank looked sadly on the floor, where there was a massive black spot. She then heard a strong breeze, for Dionysus' house. She opened the door and shouted,
"Hey!" The black figure turned around to face her. It was wearing a black hood over black robes. It looked at her, and said, in a deep and raspy voice.
"You stopped me from getting him. You will pay for that." He immediately disappeared.
"Hey!" she shouted. "Come back coward!" but he was long gone. Eros suddenly burst in.
"Athena! Phew! No one was kidnapped! It was only a gust of wind!"
"Actually, no. Two people were kidnapped."
He looked at her, shocked. "Who?"
"Poseidon and Hermes." The gods all came for a meeting that night. Everyone was there except for Ares.
"Where are Poseidon, Hermes, and Ares?" Hera asked.
"Ares, I do not know. But Poseidon and Hermes were both kidnapped tonight." The gods gasped at each other and exchanged looks.
