he's the protagonist in the story but i was only a side character

iwaizumi was the most popular boy in school and oikawa was just a small and unimportant student that wasn't involved in the school's famous kids clique.

oikawa would have just went on with university just like a normal student would but he was 'lucky' enough to meet iwaizumi.

it was supposed to be another normal day at university, with the expected bullying, mocking, and ignorance from his classmates and teachers.

"oh look, isn't this the nerdy kid who sits at the back of the class? how pathetic, with no friends and all haha."

oikawa was throwed on the lockers by a group of three bullies and they formed a wall in front of him, blocking all escape routes.

"please let me go, I've already helped you did all your assignments and handed it in."

"if i just let you go like that, it won't be fun."

oikawa hunched his shoulders in, as if that would protect him from the bullies. he closed his eyes and waited for the bullies to start insulting him again, and to steal all his money in his wallet.

but it never came.

"hey! why are you bullying someone?"

a deep voice echoed in oikawa's ears and he opened his eyes slightly to see which hero had heard his desperate calls for help and came to the rescue.

the bullies 'tched' in disappointment and left when someone appeared.

"hey, are you ok?"

the guy approached him and asked in gentle tone.

"i guess im fine..."

"you should have spoke up to those bullies."

"they'll just bully me more, i rather keep quiet."

the guy sighed and patted oikawa's shoulders. then he suddenly thought of something and lit up.

"hey, i know what to cheer you up."

the guy pulled a rose from his jacket and handed it to oikawa.

"my name is iwaizumi hajime, yours?"

"oikawa tooru."

"what a nice name, it's definitely matching with a beautiful face like that."

iwaizumi flirted with oikawa and his face blushed immediately. oikawa quietly accepted the rose and ran away in embarrassment, hearing iwaizumi's chuckle from behind.

oikawa bit his lips and twirled the rose in his hand. he smiled as he remembered how iwaizumi flirted with him, a small little crush developing in his heart.

that's right, oikawa is gay. and that's probably the reason why he was bullied so often. but he didn't care, he was proud of his sexuality.

he had a few crushes before but those just ended in about a month and it was really faint.

but this. this feels different. it was the first time someone actually bothered to save him instead of walking away.

iwaizumi hajime.

oikawa swore to remember that name in his head forever.

maybe that was a bad choice.
