The number four was quite a mystery.

Why was it the number that separated the number three from the number five? The number that was even, when the other two were odd? The number that was closed when the other two were open? These strange thoughts that kept roaming Emma's mind at four am in the morning, and at four pm in the afternoon.

What was even the point of having the number four in the numerical system? Norman and Ray obviously knew the answer to that - though they didn't let Emma in on it.

The number four constantly stressed her out. A stupid thought that clogged in her mind. The only connection she actually had to the number four was her id numbers. 63194. If she took away the '619', 34 would be the result. How unfortunate that the number four had to be so mysterious.

She once looked at Gilda's id number, 65194. If she took away the '619' as well, then that would result in 54. Again, a strange occurrence from the number four. Maybe Gilda knew the answer to why the number four was so itself. If she was smart in doing head counts and fashionable clothing, she would definitely know what the number four meant.

Surprisingly, Gilda didn't know either.

Emma had mentioned how they were close in their number ids, the only difference was that the number four blocked their path. Gilda told her that it didn't bother her so much since she found the way to see a positive outlook on it.

They weren't in the human world yet, but they were getting closer every single day. The possibility of removing the id numbers was unknown, although they have considered if they should keep them on their necks or not.

Regardless, Emma still needed to know the positive factors of the number four. Gilda promised to tell her someday, when they have their future in the human world.

All she had to remember was the date, June 4th.

Years later in the human world, June 4th finally arrived for the 24 year old Emma.

Rushing out into the living room with whom she shared with her girlfriend, Emma found her sitting and working on the couch. Jumping into her lap, the other female yelped in surprise. "Good afternoon, my sunny sunshine!"

Fixing her glasses and putting her work aside, Gilda greeted her girlfriend with a quick kiss. "Good afternoon, my sleepy sweetheart."

"Do you know what today is?" Emma asked excitedly.

"Hm, June 4th?" Gilda easily guessed.

"Yes!" Emma cheered, raising her hands up in the air. "You promised that you would tell me about the positivity for number four!"

"You're correct." Gilda smiled, booping Emma's nose.

"Please tell me..." Emma whined, burying her face in the crook of Gilda's neck number side.

"Well... you know how every year, we do something special on June 4th?" Gilda reminded her love, holding her close.

Emma gasped in realization. "Yeah! Like that one time-"

Gilda warmly kissed her again. "Let me finish, please. As I was saying, we do something special on that date. When we became girlfriends, had our official fourth date, moved in together, and many more amazing wonders."

Emma smiled and held hands with her, looking up to the ceiling. "I wonder what today will bring for us then..."

Suddenly, Gilda grabbed her girlfriend's cheeks and fixated her gaze onto hers. "You were my yesterday and tomorrow I'll be your future. For today, we're both each other's presents."

"That's a nice way to say that you love me." Emma smiled sweetly, intertwining hands with Gilda.

"Actually, I was thinking of it being more of a..."

Emma watched as Gilda took something shiny out of her pocket. The green haired female showed it to her. "G-Gilda..."

"May we be each other's everydays, Emma?"

Emma clasped her hand over her mouth, tears spilling from her eyes. "Are you kidding?! Yes!"

Tackling her lover down on the couch, they both laughed with glee. Gilda slipped the ring onto Emma's finger and kissed it gently.

"How do you feel about today's number date now?" Gilda asked with a smile.

"I feel better about it." Emma told Gilda before giving her a simple kiss. "As long as you continue to be a part of the fours. The same goes for me."

Sharing another kiss, the two girls cuddled the day away in eternal bliss.

Emma really did mean that. She was fine with the number four. Thanks to Gilda, her sweetheart. She was glad that they kept the number necks. It reminded them of the space between their close proximity. The mere fact didn't mean anything bad - just a wonderful thing to remember about the number between their numbers. She was also glad about their apartment building number. 691.

"Can we name our future kid, Four?" Emma tried attempting with an ask.

"...No." Gilda replied with a smile.

"Hm, fair enough."

They giggled, exchanged 'I love yous', and fell asleep as the afternoon sun hit their joyful, pleased faces.
