If you told me a few days back how I would've helped dinosaurs escape from InGen's grip by Claire Dearing's and Owen Grady's side I wouldn't believe it. Those faces I only knew from the Jurassic World's website were now fighting for their lives and I was there, standing by them and defending the dinosaurs' rights. Crazy, right? Before that trip, my life was flat. The most dangerous thing I had ever done? Jumping off a 6'5 tree.
Owen shut down the motorcycle's engine outside the raptor's enclosure. I hopped off and quickly stood behind him, seeking protection. It was probably the first time I had let him see me like that, defenseless and scared. Loud sounds of shotguns shooting echoed through the trees and a giant cloud of smoke made its way to the night sky. In addition to that, it started heavy raining.
Owen glanced down at me for a brief second before grabbing his 45-70 rounds gun. He aimed it forward for protection as a line of six trucks made its way to the exhibit.
"Stay behind me" Owen demanded, his free arm pushing me back a little. I nodded and did as requested, my confidence long gone at that point.
Six InGen men per truck jumped off the vehicles, their shotguns aimed at us as they slowly got closer. Two of them, following close behind the line ups, had Claire. My breaths became heavier as they were treating her like some criminal, holding her against her will. We were screwed. We were so screwed.
"Let her go" Owen demanded the rain's loud sounds.
"Not before we get our hands on those raptors" James threatened. "Now, if you don't mind, move"
I tried to think of something helpful to do, anything, my mind was awfully blurry. The sky was now foggy and I was genuinely tired. We all were. But those were Owen's raptors. He raised them, cared for them, loved them. I couldn't just let him watch his pals being threatened by military bullies. Did they really think they could just walk into their exhibit and make it out alive? I would've loved to see that.
"Grady, you're going in" James demanded.
"What?! No, he's not!" Claire and I yelled in unison.
"It's okay" Owen softly brushed his hand against my arm with a weak smile, trying to reassure me? There was no way he was going in!
"Those raptors will eat you all alive!" I tried to reason with them. "Y'all are in InGen for what? Terrorizing the only park in the world that has breathing species of extinct animals?!"
"We're just following orders, honey" James shrugged and I really wished I had the audacity to punch him in the damn face.
"Your orders suck!" I blurted out and, before I could get even closer, I felt a pair of arms keeping me from doing so. Claire. "We can't let him go in, they-" my voice broke when tears streamed down my face.
"He's got this" she simply said. Was she even serious?!
Before I could argue with her too, I heard the sound of the gate opening. I snapped my eyes in that direction and it's like someone had stabbed me in the heart. He was going in. He was actually going in. I fought with all the strength I had left to get out of Claire's grip. He wouldn't make it out alive. My strength enlightened at the only thought of it, my tears turned into breathless sobs.
"Elle! Just trust him on this one!" Claire tried to reason with me. "He wouldn't want us anywhere near them. He wouldn't want you anywhere near them"
"We can't just let him-" I stopped mid-sentence. I felt both a panic attack and an adrenaline rush coursing in my veins. I tried to breathe out but my lungs stopped working properly.
