    The emergency siren went off in the middle of the night. It was my turn to stay awake, Claire sat beside me on the couch when we snapped our heads up. What now? I stood up and quietly went for the guestroom while the redhead walked in the main bedroom. I woke Nick up and sat on the bed where Owen was sound asleep. He looked so peaceful and relaxed, I felt bad for having to wake him up.

    "Elle, we need to go, now." Lowery informed me, his voice still raspy for having just woken up yet sober. So something was up.

    I sighed and gently caressed Owen's soft hair. "Owen, hey"

    "Mh" he sleepily hummed with a small smile. "Mornin' already?"

    "Not exactly, no" I bit my lip. "But we need to go, c'mon"

    His green eyes snapped open and he sobered up in less than five seconds. How? He eyed me curiously and smiled at me for some reason. "No good morning kiss for the raptor trainer?"

    "You- what?" I helplessly snorted.

    Owen's lips curved up into a smug smirk. "You heard me."

    The door burst open one more time. Dyson scoffed loudly and rolled his eyes, followed by Roger's laugh. "We have quite the emergency here"

    I felt blood pumping to my cheeks as I blushed. "Right, yes, of course"

    Driving through the park in a jeep probably wasn't the best idea. Not when dinosaurs were loose on the island and there were no more saving boats around. One jeep was being driven by Roger, team B included him, Dyson, and Lowery. The other one had Owen as the driver, making team A made up of four members: the raptor trainer, me, Claire, and Nick. Both teams were directed to the Innovation Lab, then had to split up into two different line-ups.

    We stopped our cars in front of the building and hopped off. Nick and Claire went for the park's main security management while Owen and I got as many emergency kits as we could get. A sudden swish sound echoed in the gigantic room. The raptor trainer reacted quickly by grabbing a shotgun and aimed it in the direction of the sound.

    "Stay behind me" Owen instructed but, when the dinosaur jumped in front of me, I couldn't help but stare.

    That oviraptor was.. pretty. He circled me carefully and sniffed me up, I knew that if I even tried to move I would've been a course meal. The dinosaur was covered in green feathers, yellow horizontal stripes displayed on his back. The feathers under his neck were as orange as the ones that went from his forehead to his nose. New generation oviraptor? There was no way that thing was exactly like he was supposed to be 65 billion years ago.

    "He's so pretty" I blurted out amused. "Look at him"

    "That's not what he thinks of you, sweetheart. You're food" Owen panted, his weapon still aimed at the creature.

    It was a matter of time, Blue and Echo sprinted into the building and snarled at the dinosaur. They both carefully stomped in our direction and patted their claws against the grey tiles for studying the new creature. They looked captivated by him and, for a second, I feared they could ally against us. Owen caught the calm moment for grabbing my arm and pulling me protectively against his hard chest.

    "So what now?" I asked in a low voice, not wanting to upset any of the dinosaurs.

    "There isn't really much we can do" Owen's warm breath blew on my ear. "We wait"

    I unsurely nodded. "Wait and see whether they decide to act on us or not?"

    "Kind of, yes"

    Echo jerked his head in our direction and carefully moved closer. He sniffed us one more time and let out a chirped sound we had never heard it make before. The oviraptor took a few steps closer to us and did the same, before sprinting away with both raptors. I eyed Owen and, for a moment, let my mind wander in deep thoughts. It was when the raptor trainer blew a soft kiss on my head that I snapped myself back to reality.

    Owen's eyes bored into mine as a tired smile made its way to his lips. "Well, that was close"

    I unsurely nodded. "I wonder what just happened"

    "You think they had a nice convo?" the man's laugh somehow sent shivers to my neck. I looked up at him with a small smile. — "Are you ever serious?"

    Owen showed off a grimace. "Nah, 'like to have fun a little bit"

    Before I could roll my eyes at his behavior, he hurriedly pushed his lips on mine and kissed me in a way that made me melt to my knees. — "Shall we keep going?
