Turns out the room we were in was, in fact, the breeding lab. From what I understood from Claire's rambling, the park was almost empty. Most of the guests had evacuated the island, InGen was still trying to get to the dinosaurs. I felt immediately bad for asking for Owen, he was out there trying to fix the situation. I was being selfish.

A quiet crack caught my attention, so I sat upright. Claire's eyes followed my every movement carefully. "You're in pain?"

"Hold on" I had to hush her.

    "If it's for Owen again-"

"No, Claire" I quickly interrupted her, my heartbeat increasing. "You heard that?"

The redhead quirked an eyebrow and shook her head no. "I heard what?"

"The eggs" I anxiously informed. "They're hatching"

Claire's eyes got real big at the realization. I clumsily rolled off the examination table and stepped towards the eggs' containment cell. While she desperately tried to make some calls, I logged in to the lab's computer. All the breeding files were locked by a password, Michael's. Easy-peasy.

"Claire" I called out a few moments later. "Is the panic room still undamaged?"

"Yes, why?" she distractedly answered, the telephone's headset tight in her hand.

"Throw me a radio, we need to go"

.

We were finally outside, even though we had to hide like criminals, in our own park! Claire told me every single thing I missed while being off, our own secret radio line included. When the device beeped, I could finally talk. — "Does anyone copy?"

There was a scratching sound. "Owen, how does this thing work? Oh, hey, Kendra here"

I immediately froze. Claire did forget to tell me that one thing. Who the hell was Kendra and why was she out there with Owen?  Billions of scenarios started playing in my head, and of course, 90% of those were bad. Nick distractedly grabbed my arm and dragged me towards the visitors center. The last thing I wanted at that point was locking myself in a stupid panic room and wait till everything was over.

"Who's Kendra?" I couldn't help but bring it up. It was eating me alive.

Claire and Nick exchanged a look, but only my brother spoke. "Oh, remember that date Owen had that night?"

"You're kidding, right?" my heartbeat increased.

"It's not what you think" Claire frantically hurried. "She's the-"

"Forget it" I interrupted with a frown. "Let's just go"

I tried to hold back the tears forming in my tired eyes and took a few steps ahead. The truth is I was tired, a bunch of things was happening in the past few days and we didn't have time to stop for a second and breathe. Out of the doors of the visitors center stood Owen next to a tall attractive woman.

I stopped in my tracks and bit my bottom lip in all nervousness when Claire and Nick surpassed me. The usual annoying voice spoke from behind me. — "What were you expecting? To fall in love and walk to the sunset with your hand in his?"

"Shut up" I angrily spat in Michael's direction. "What do you still want from me?! You were a douchebag the whole time we were together and then poof, you're in the exact part of the world I am with a brand new job as my boss. You've got issues, Mike"

"I've got issues?! You're head over heels for a guy you just met and, what, maybe even slept with him. But, guess what, he doesn't care as much as you care. That's your problem. Just let go for once"

My full attention was on my ex. Good thing because so I wouldn't have to see Owen being close to that girl, bad thing because it made me both mad and sad. I felt tears stinging in my eyes and I tried so hard to keep it together. Mikey patted my back in a way that made me even angrier.

"Hands off my girl, asshole!" Owen's voice spoke loud.

"Oh, she's your girl now? Funny how we were just talking about your new addition" Michael smirked. "What's her name again? Ah, Kendra"

I was sweating, my heartbeat pace raising at an unhealthy speed. I was tired, done. Enough bullshit. Tears coursed down my cheeks as I spoke the following words. "Stay away from me"

Owen abruptly stopped in his tracks and stared at me with the biggest frown. "Are you okay?"

"I just need a little time" I cried and eventually ran away. It was stupid perhaps, but much needed. At that point, all I needed was reassurance, care, safety.

.

I didn't quite understand how stupid I had been until I reached the paddocks. Each and every exhibit was damaged, the doors unlocked, no dinosaur insight. It was that bad. My radio suddenly started beeping, causing me a jump scare.

"Elle, tell me where you- not safe out there- loose! All of the- please answer" Owen frantically rambled.

I froze in place. Bad idea, very bad idea. A quick swoosh made me swing on alert, I panicked so much I deadass dropped my radio. When I kneeled down to pick it up, I had to look above my head. Blue. I gulped and tried not to move. The raptor got closer and sniffed me up. Why were the carnivores even loose?! What the hell happened?! Blue's head stopped on left my leg, where my previous bruise was and sniffed it a little more.

"Please tell me-" Owen's voice echoed and glitched again.

Unexpectedly, instead of getting angry, Blue tilt her head to the side at the sound of her alpha's voice. She then pushed the radio to my feet and stared at me impatiently. I was taken aback by her behavior. It was highly impossible that she didn't want to hurt me, or was it?

"Owen" I spoke into the radio, my voice was shaking along with my hands.

"Elle, where are you?? It's dangerous out there. I'm coming for you, okay?"

"Uh, I have quite a situation here" I gulped.

I heard Owen stop. "What's wrong?"

"It's, uh-" I stumbled on my words under Blue's careful gaze. She suddenly let out little roars as for communicating.

"Is that-" Owen nervously breathed out against the device.

"She, uh, could eat me, right?" I panicked.

"Don't move, I'm on my way" he seriously instructed.
