Emma walked through the crowded hallway trying to get to her next class. She went over her to-do list in her head, reciting what she was yet to do and what she had already accomplished. It was her last period and just the mere thought of that lightened her mode. She had two more years in college and was honestly just praying for it to be over.

"Hola Chica" A voice came from behind her, causing her to roll her eyes in amusement, already knowing who that voice belonged to.

"What do you want Caleb?" She said, a smile playing on her lips.

"Can't a guy say hello to his favorite girl?" The dark skinned boy with thick, black curly hair said, as he began to walk beside her, draping his arm round her shoulder.

"Wow. There's a complement. Now I know you really want something." Emma said folding her arms and looking up at him.

"Fine, fine. I want help with my Spanish" Caleb said wiggling his eyebrows and flashing her a smile.

"Yeah and I want a million dollars, but we both know that's not gonna happen anytime soon."

Caleb groaned at her response "Pero chica, mi necessitous ayuda" He said pouting at her "Pero chico yo soy ocupada" Emma said rolling her eyes at him. "I'm not even Mexican. Use Duolingo or something" Emma said, giggling as he batted his eye lashes at her.

"But Duolingo is so annoying."

Emma looked at him suspicious at his response. "Have you tried it?" There was silence before he slowly shook his head.

Emma smiled at him, reaching up and taping his chin. "Let's make a deal. If you try it and it doesn't work out then I promise to help you." She said pointing out her pinky to him. He hooked his with hers and a triumphant smile spread across his face.

"Gracias, senorita." He said before bowing and jogging away.

Emma smiled as she continued walking down the hall to her next class, her mood brighter after the confrontation with Caleb. He was like the little brother she never had and his playful character always seemed to lift her spirit.

She took a right turn and paused as she could suddenly feel the unsettling pressure of eyes watching her every move. She ignored it and kept on walking, slowly humming to herself, trying to rid off her rising nerves.

The feeling only seemed to grow causing her to finally shift her gaze to the side and was instantly met by deep grey eyes.

Cole.

Their eyes locked and it was as though her mind went blank. Nothing went through it as she just stared back into the eyes that seemed to bore into her. She couldn't feel anything; panic, surprise, fear, nope, nothing at all, just the magnetic push preventing her from looking away.

She snapped out of it when she felt her body slam against something hard. She turned just in time to see flying papers in-front of her.

"Oh my!" A woman exclaimed, getting on her knees to gather the papers that had scattered across the floor. Emma joined her, a thousand apologies leaving her mouth.

"I'm so sorry Mrs. Anderson. I wasn't looking where I was going." Emma said, hurriedly trying to gather all the papers.

"Oh it's okay dear. It's just a few papers that fell. Nothing important" Mrs. Anderson said.

"No I'm honestly sorry. Is there anything I can help you with?" Emma said, rising with the slightly grey haired lady once they finished gathering all the papers.

"Nothing in particular. But you would be a darling if you helped me take this to the library and just arrange it alphabetically then put it on the last shelf, third to the last isle." Mrs. Anderson said smiling encouragingly at Emma. You just had to ask if you could help, Emma inwardly scolded herself before she made up an excuse.

"I would love to but I'm meant to be having a class right now" She said trying her best to look disappointed.

"No problem sweetheart it's my class you're meant to be having, you can just get the notes from one of your friends." The woman said, letting out a heartily laugh before handing her the papers. Before Emma could say anything, Mrs. Anderson had already disappeared leaving Emma hopeless to any form of escape.

The Library it is.

She turned around and headed for the door leading outside, still regretting asking for help. One of the major things Emma didn't like, were books, and going to a place filled with them, did a good job of bringing down her high.

Emma let out a sigh as she finally went into the moderately large library, locating a table and getting to work.

Minutes that felt like hours passed and she had finally finished sorting out all the scattered files alphabetically. She checked her time and saw that her classes were over. She was both glad that she could leave school now and annoyed that she missed a class and had to catch up.

"Thank you Jesus" She said with a sigh as she stood up and stretched.

"Okay it was last shelf, third to the last isle right? Right." Emma said, reassuring herself. She began to walk to the isle, tracing her fingers on each book she passed.

Her eyes squinted in confusion as weird noises began to fill the air the closer she got to the isle. She finally arrived at her destination, looked up and froze at the image before her.

There stood Jake and Rose.

Rose back pushed against the wall with Jake's hands holding hers above her now frizzled red hair, their lips viciously attacking each other as sounds that Emma wished to plunge out of her ear, filled the small room.

Emma stood there frozen. She didn't know what to do, what to say or how to react. She felt as though someone had stabbed a knife in her back and forced her to watch them stabbing her over and over again.

She quietly inserted the file into the shelf before dropping her head down and removing the hair band and allowing her long, brown hair, causing it to cover her face as she walked out of the Library. She wanted to cry but the tears won't come out. It felt as though her heart had stopped beating but yet she could hear it like a loud drum against her chest.

She didn't know what to say God, God, God. She just kept thinking it over and over again not knowing who else to call upon, knowing that he was the only one to calm her down. Also not knowing where to go, she wondered to the back of the building positioning herself against a wall at the far end.

She closed her eyes before leaning forward and bowing her head, letting out a shaky breath as she tried to control the tears from flooding down her cheeks. "Calm my spirit and make peaceful my soul."

She kept repeating those words for what seemed like hours before opening her eyes and racking her hair with her fingers then letting out a more leveled breath. She turned and began to walk home, to deep in thought to notice the shadow leaning against the far, opposite wall, watching her.
