Emma woke up with a smile plastered on her face and she had no clue why.
"Thank you Jesus," She said as she yawned. She took in a deep breath and paused as she inhaled a somewhat familiar scent and oddly exhilarating scent.
She looked down and saw the white blanket that was draped around her body slowly fall and her smile widened as the memories of last night flashed through her head, visualizing the smile on his face that always seemed to take her breath away.
She yawned once more before standing up and stretching, her smile widening more as it dawned on her that today she didn't have any classes to attend.
"Praise the Lord!" She somewhat screamed as she jumped up and down.
"No classes, no classes" She repeated it some more times as she danced round the room.
She finally stopped and giggled at her own childishness, walking over to the bathroom and standing in front of the mirror as she brushed her teeth. The smile never left her lips as she walked over to her desk and had her devotions before going out of the room and into the kitchen
She honestly didn't know why she was so happy. It happens to everyone, some days you'd just wake up jolly and jumpy with a huge smile on your face. And this was one of those days for her, she felt as though she was soaring on a cloud and nothing could bring her down. God had just decided to place a smile on her face on this particular day.
Maybe it was because there was no class to attend, maybe because the day was among her best days, or maybe it was because of him.
Cole.
She paused and smiled, just by the mere thought of him, her chest always twisted in a way that seemed to completely consume her. She sighed and kept humming as she walked toward the kitchen. She didn't know why but part of her just wanted to hear his voice.
She thought about it for some minutes.
Would it be weird?
She quickly got her phone and dialed his number before she could have any second thoughts. With every ring, she heard she could feel her heart skip a bit.
"Twix!" Emma giggled at the excitement in his voice and could feel her cheeks turn pink hearing the nickname. She heard him let out a chuckle and couldn't help but feel like he could see her tinted face.
"So, to what do I owe this pleasant surprise?" Cole said with both pleasure and amusement playing in his voice.
Actually, why exactly did I call..... To hear his voice? But I can't say that, that's just creepy.
Emma mentally face palmed herself not knowing what to say. God give me words. It finally hit her and this time she physically face palmed herself.
"Em... I just called to thank you for last night..." She said trailing of not really sure what to say next. Cole chuckled as though he could sense her nervousness
"No problem. Even though you slept off." Emma laughed and shook her head.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" She said still giggling at the thought of it. She heard Cole let out a dramatic gasp and couldn't help but laugh more.
"What? I did wake you up, but you kept on saying stuff before falling back to sleep." Emma could already feel the smirk on his lips and her face twisted in confusion.
"What do you mean by I kept on saying stuff?" She asked carefully, and could almost see Cole's smirk grow bigger, only adding to her confusion.
"Nothing really. Just about someone you're madly in love with."
Emma froze.
Dear God.
Her head twirled trying to remember what she had said, which was not fruitful since she was a very heavy sleeper. She closed her eyes tight as though it would transport her back to a time so she could listen to herself and heard Cole let out a chuckle, only unnerving her more.
"Cole..... What exactly did I say?" She said slowly. She could hear him stifle in a laugh and her face twisted from suspicion to desperation.
"Come on please just tell me what I said." She said pouting her lips even though she knew that he couldn't see her. Cole finally let out a laugh and caused Emma's face to twist back into the suspicious look.
"I was joking, you didn't actually say that." He said still laughing at her previous panicked state and. Emma couldn't help the small smile that formed on her lips at the sound of his deep laughter.
"But what did I actually say." She said, she could hear Cole try to stop his laughter and she couldn't help but let out a giggle herself. She didn't know why, but the sound of his deep laugh just made her smile. It just spread this happiness round her that she, Emma Davids, could make the feral and sadist Cole Walker, laugh.
"Okay, what you actually said was that you didn't need someone's number because you already had Iron Man's number." Emma processed it in her head and laughed as she remembered that she had slept watching Iron Man.
"That makes sense." Cole let out another laugh at her comment and Emma joined him.
"Thanks Emma." Emma's head tilted in confusion. He loves to say thanks a lot.
"For what?" She asked, clearly puzzled.
"For making my day." Emma smile grew larger and she had an inward dance party.
She didn't know why, but just the thought that she had made his day, that he was happy because of her, made her feel like she was on cloud 9.
"My pleasure." They talked for some minutes about completely random things before ending the call.
Emma sighed, feeling accomplished, and grabbing a half-eating hamburger from the fridge before placing it into the microwave. She leaned against the counter and scrolled through her phone, her face immediately lighting up as she read the announcement on her Youth Group.
As though on cue, her phone buzzed. She smiled at the user name and quickly picked up. "Hi Adeola." She said giggling, already knowing what was coming.
"Emma! So, you HAVE to come for the Scripture Search." She said, as though it was a life or death situation.
Emma laughed at her friend's way of immediately getting to the point.
"I know, I just saw it on the group now, I can't remember the last time I went for one... I'll think about it," Emma said. There was a pause before she heard laughing.
"What do you mean by you'll think about it? Didn't you hear me? I said you HAVE to come. It's not really a choice" Emma laughed at her persistence.
"Fine, I'll come," Emma said as she rolled her eyes.
"Fantastic. Now get ready. Bye." Adeola said in an awfully triumphant voice as she hung up. Emma laughed as she opened the microwave and used a serviette to take the hamburger out. She walked back to her room and took a bite of it as she entered.
"What to wear?" She said to no one in particular as she looked in her closet.
