Cole and Emma waved the last person goodbye as they walked towards Cole's car a smile on both of their faces.
"See! I told you it was going to be fun!" Emma said noticing the smile on his face and giggling. Cole laughed and leaned against his car when they finally reached.
"I never said it wasn't going to be fun." He said grinning at her and folding his arms. Emma rolled her eyes and leaned on the car, mirroring his actions.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, but it was fun wasn't it?" Emma said a grin on her face also.
"Fine, it was pretty fun." Cole said raising his hands as though accepting defeat.
They had eaten and talked and everyone seemed chill even though some people looked at him like he was the twin brother to Dracula. He found out a lot of things like, Jeremy was Adeola's bother and he was the youth pastor but he was soon going to move to some other state and that Emma had been attending that church since she was fifteen.
"I told you so!" Emma said doing a slight victory dance. Cole laughed and shook his head.
"You're so humble when it comes to being right." He said shaking his head at her, but still not helping it as he found cute every ounce of excitement she showed.
"So may I be blessed with the honor of escorting this lovely damsel home?" Cole said bowing down dramatically. Emma giggled and nodded her head.
"Of course you may kind sir." She said doing a dramatic curtsey of her own. Cole laughed and walked towards the front seat of his car, opening the door and gesturing for her to go in. Cole entered right after her and began to drive.
"You should have tried Joe's pie. It was really nice." Emma said after a period of comfortable silence. Cole's eyes widened as though Emma had grown an extra head.
"Isn't Joe that guy that kept on looking at me as though I came out from his worst nightmare?" Cole said, the look of disbelief plain on his face. Emma laughed and shook her head.
"I won't blame him though, you're quite gigantic, even a little bigger than my brother, and that's saying something, and besides, it wasn't that bad." She said rolling her eyes in amusement and mockery.
"What! If looks could kill I'd probably be dead by now!" Cole said in response. Emma giggled at his exaggeration.
"I didn't know that big boy Cole couldn't handle a little glare?" Emma said as though she was talking to a baby. Cole stuck out his tongue at her before quickly turning back to the road.
"But you should have at least tried it." Emma said finally calming down from her hysteric laugher.
"Nah, I was too busy enjoying those delicious cookies." Cole said letting out a satisfied sigh as though tasting them all over again.
"You're only saying that 'cause you know that I'm the one who made them." Emma said rolling her eyes a smile playing on her lips.
"No way!" Cole said in fake surprise.
"Yes way!" Emma said mimicking his act.
"But honestly those cookies were magnífico." Cole said, feigning a Mexican accent. "Gracias señor." Emma said mimicking his accent but way much more accurate.
"Where did you learn to speak Spanish from?" Cole asked genuinely curious about her abstract knowledge of the language.
"Well, I always wanted to travel to Mexico, so I took a Spanish course in high school, and when I realized I was learning absolutely nothing, I decided to go on Duolingo for a year and some months, and I took up an online course after. It's one of my dreams to just visit La Museo Soumaya" Emma said, letting out a sigh.
"Would you believe me if I told you I've been there." Cole said a wide grin on his face. Emma's jaw dropped as she looked at him in disbelief.
"You've got to be joking." She finally said in a whisper as though saying some kind of secret.
"Yeah, maybe it's not the one I'm thinking of." Cole said shrugging the grin never leaving his face.
"What do you mean by 'maybe it's not the one you're talking of? How in the world can you go there and forget? Only, if you haven't been there at all." Emma said, squinting her eyes at him as though they would juice out the truth.
"Maybe, only if it's the one named after Carlos Slim's late wife, Soumaya Domit, and has a glittering architectural treat amidst unremarkable business blocks in the center of Polanco rising from the ground like a silver geometric dream, and is filled with a lot of artwork from the European Old Masters and even has some 20th-century Mexican pieces too...... If it's that one then... yes." Cole said his grin widening as the look of disbelief crossed Emma's face.
"What? I love traveling." Cole said, shrugging after a while of silence.
"You're so lucky." Emma said letting out a sigh.
"Maybe one day I'll take you to Mexico." Cole said, completely meaning, but Emma, as usual, didn't hear the seriousness in his tone as she giggled. * * * *
They finally arrived at the front of her house and Cole got out before opening the door for Emma to follow suit. They walked to her doorstep and finally reached, turning to look at each other.
"Emma, once again you've made my day. Thank you." Cole said smiling down at Emma who was mirroring his expression as she shook her head.
"Cole, I feel like I'm the one that owes you a thank you. You came! And that just made my whole......Everything!" Emma said giggling and making Cole smile.
They just stood there, facing each other with smiles on their faces as they swam in the comfort of each's presence.
"Bye Twix." Cole said sending her one more smile and turning round. Before he could even begin to walk away, he felt himself being pulled back.
His breath hitched as the feeling of both Emma's arms being wrapped round his neck swept him away. He hesitated before slowly sinking into the hug and wrapping his arms round her small waist.
He leaned his head against her shoulder and took in a breath of her lemon-scented hair. The warmth radiating through her body overwhelmed him and made him feel like a swarm of butterflies were dancing around in his tummy.
He couldn't help it as his eyes slowly closed letting his whole body swim in the feeling of her warmth. His lips lifted in a smile as he heard a satisfied sigh come from Emma, happy with the mere thought of her feeling the same way as he did.
He wished that he could stay in her embrace forever, but something's just have to come to an end.
As though reading his thoughts, he felt Emma's arms slowly unwrap from round his neck and he grudgingly freed her waist. A smile times a hundred than the last one, had filled both their faces.
"Bye Gris." Emma said in a happy but soft voice as though waking up from a beautiful dream, but still wanting to go back and relive it.
She waved at him and began to walk towards her house. Cole's smile widened and he turned to walk towards his car before pausing once more to hear the next thing she said.
"And remember, all you have to do is believe."
