It was Leigh's second time heading to Anne's house by herself, with the promise that her mom would show up. Although, last Saturday Jacqueline had left Leigh to deal with everything by herself and honestly she was expecting it to happen again. Her mother had been putting the responsibilities on everyone else rather than dealing with her own problem. Leigh was sick of it but there wasn't anything she could really do about it, especially since she did not want to anger her mother.

Leigh's thoughts were cut off by her phone ringing with the ringtone she had set for her mother and sighed, "Hello mom."

"Hey sweetie," Jacqueline said in a cheery voice, Leigh knew nothing good was going to come out of this conversation, "Do you mind staying there by yourself today?"

"I guess so, why?" She questioned.

"Noah threw up and I really didn't want to leave him alone."

"What about dad? Can't he stay with him?" Leigh asked. She really did not want to be alone in the disgusting, smelly, house.

"No, he can't. He decided to go camping with your Uncle Josh even though I told him not to. You all haven't been feeling all that and I said that I might need his help. But nooooo, he had to go do his own thing," the woman muttered.

"Okay, I'll stay here bye!" she said quickly not wanting to be on the other end of her mother's wrath, it was never pretty when her mother was angry.

Grammie chose the wrong moment to enter the room, because Leigh was slightly angry from the phone call with Jacqueline. She was upset that her mom was taking her anger out on this shitty situation with her grandma on her dad. She was upset that her mom couldn't see the toll that these weekly Saturday visits were taking on Leigh's mental health. So Leigh did the best thing she could do and turned to her Great Grandma.

"Sure, I'll stay here, all alone with a woman who hates me and a woman who has the mindset of a child. I stay here and be bored out of mind as I try to clean up a mess that wasn't even mine to begin with.Ya know Grammie, I'm really starting to get sick of this," The girl ranted, "Last week I asked if I could go hang out with Micheal but once again I was guilt tripped into helping my mom. In the end all I did was sit on the couch and sulk when I could have been hanging out with my friends"

The old woman honestly had no idea what the teen in front of her was going on about but she could tell that she was very upset so the woman let out some encouraging sounds to the teen. Leigh of course, had no idea what the woman was saying but it definitely helped, knowing that at least someone was listening to her. Even if she couldn't understand.

In all honesty, the only reason Leigh put up with everything was for the sake of Grammie, the elderly lady needed someone to take proper care of her and if she could do that then there would be no issues. The woman let out some more babbles, like she was trying to start a conversation with Leigh. Then she pointed to the hallway that led to the kitchen.

"Oh, are you hungry?" Leigh cooed, "You poor thing, given your state you haven't eaten in a while. Let's go get you some food."

Leigh stood up from the couch she was sitting on and dusted herself off, when Anne came into the room. Instinctively she was wary, not much went well when her grandmother was around.

"Leigh," The woman said as a greeting. Leigh watched as she picked up her wallet, waiting for the woman to speak again, "Where's your mom?"

"Noah wasn't feeling very well, so she stayed home with him." She answered.

"Tsk tsk, she should be here," That was something Leigh agreed with, "But while you are here clean this room up."

"Okay, I will after I get Grammie something to eat," As soon as she had spoken Leigh wished she had just kept her mouth shut, Anne was not one who liked to be kept waiting nor did she like others taking her spot in what she should be doing.
