Chapter 2: Not A Great Start

You woke up as the dropship landed. Yawning and stretching you noticed 2 things. 1. It was almost dark out. The trip back from King's Canyon must have taken a while. 2. You were outside a very large tower with glass doors.

Hopping out of the dropship you watched as it flew off before turning back to the tower. "I feel bad for whoever had to make this." You said quietly as you looked at the scale of the building. You shook your head to rid yourself of your thoughts before strolling towards the entrance. The lobby seemed to be dark, you suspected some sort of trap and slid your Karambit into your hand from your sleeve.

Slowly pushing the door open you quietly walked in and sensed multiple people in the lobby with you. After a few seconds you were caught off guard when the lights snapped on and all the legends bounced out from near the centre of the lobby.

"Surprise!" You heard a few of them say with a lot of exceptions for legends like Caustic, Revenant, Crypto, Loba and Wraith.

You stared blankly for a moment before retracting your knife and slowly stepping forward as they began to approach you.
You had thought about removing your hood but decided against it. These guys aren't even acquaintances. You thought as a large man stepped up to you.

"Hello, brotha! Welcome to the tower!" He said with a small laugh and outstretched his hand. He seemed friendly enough.

You shook his hand firmly. "You can call me Gibraltar." He stated and I gave a simple nod.
"Y/N." You said as he moved out of the way so the others could greet you.

Wraith's POV

Why did they think it was necessary to greet this guy like it's a birthday party? So we've got a new legend, big deal. Isn't a quick hello and goodbye enough?

I was broken from my thoughts as I heard footsteps approaching where I was sat. I looked up to see the newcomer. I was confused at first as he simply stared at me from under his hood and face mask. "What do you want?" I asked with venom. I finally noticed his outstretched hand. "No, I don't do that." I said batting away his hand. He huffed.

"At least give me your name?" He asked in a 'nice' tone. I glared daggers at him before standing and walking away to grab a drink.

Y/N's POV

After greeting most the Legends excluding Revenant who simply stated his name and left. I approached the last girl. Wraith I think her name is. She stared blankly at me for a few moments as I held out my hand for her to shake. "What do you want?" She asked me. What the fuck do you think? I internally screamed at her. "No, I don't do that." She stated as she slapped my hand away. I was five seconds away from stabbing this girl with my Karambit but tried my best to act nice. "Can I at least have your name?" I asked as polite as I could. If looks could kill I'd be 6 feet under right now. She stomped off towards where the drinks were before I even had a chance to ask what I did wrong.

I sighed as I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see Lifelin- I mean Ajay. "Don't worry about her, she's always like this." She said as she motioned towards Wraith who was already drinking a pint of some sort of alcohol. "Always like this, meaning she's always an alcoholic or always throws hissy fits?" I asked before crossing my arms and smirking at my own joke.

Ajay laughed at my words. "Always unsocial." She rephrased. I nodded before gripping the side of my hood and pulled it down, letting my H/C hair emerge from it's captivity. I noticed a small change in the shade of Ajay's cheeks as she saw my face properly. "Do you always keep the mask on?" She asked as she shook her head slightly trying to clear her thoughts. "Only when I'm around others." You replied as you brushed your hair to the side using your hand.

"If I take a drink I'm not gonna have to pay for them right?" I asked with a laugh eliciting giggles from Ajay. "Take as many as you like. Although I'd wait for you know who to move away from them first." She said looking back over to Wraith who was resting on the table as she was drinking.

I thought about it for a moment before settling on a different idea. "We haven't known each other for very long. But I like to face problems head on." I stated as I walked over towards where Wraith was. Ajay simply frowned as she expected bad things to happen.

Snagging a bottle of Whiskey I alerted her to my presence. "I think we got off on the wrong foot. I'm Y/N." I said as she simply looked me dead in the eyes before going back to drinking.

"Not even a friendly hello, hi or an introduction?" I teased slightly. "I suggest you choose your words wisely." She said as her grip on the glass tightened. "I've seen scarier things, trust me." I lowered my mask slightly and took a small sip of the alcohol before resting it on the table and raising my mask again.

"Can't you just leave me alone?" She asked with a slight growl. "Not until you give me your name." I leaned against the table as I stared at her. She put her glass down on the table and stood in my face. "I have no reason to tell you anything. Now heed my warning and back off before you get hurt!" She practically yelled catching the attention of everyone else.

The atmosphere was so thick you couldn't cut it with a knife. After a few seconds of her standing in my face the glass does swung open. "Thanks for your help cleaning up guys." Mirage said sarcastically as he entered. Noticing Me and Wraith inches from each other he quickly recoiled. "Is this a bad time?" He asked.

"I was joking. You understand what humour is, right? Lord, I'd hate to see how you take sarcasm." I said in a calm manner which was apparently enough to make her snap. Within just a couple seconds she had thrown me over the table knocking most the drinks off. Jumping onto me and pressing her Kunai to my neck. Almost instantly everyone had run over and pulled her off before she could do something stupid.

I sat up and brushed off anything that had gotten on my outfit. Watching as Gibraltar and Caustic restrained her and tried to take her off the scene. After a few seconds I noticed her disappear from between them both. Standing up I could almost instantly sense where she was. Grabbing her arm when she exited the void and pinning her down long enough for the 'big boys' as I plan on calling them, came over to restrain her again.

"Let go of me!" She screeched as they took her to the elevator and back to her room. Ajay ran over to check on me. "I knew that was a stupid idea. You alright?" She asked as she checked for injuries. "That was my fault. I shouldn't have provoked her, I'm sorry." I said with a sigh. She shook her head at me as Mirage came over to us. "Don't apologise, buddy. I can call you 'buddy' right?" He asked with a smile and I nodded. "I'll show you to your room, cmon." He said as he motioned for me to follow him to the stairs. Lucky for me most the building is training areas and other sort of places. The living quarters were only a couple levels up.

"This probably isn't a good time to say... but your neighbours are Crypto and Wraith..." he said awkwardly. "Couldn't have told me that before I pissed off the crazy phase jumping girl?" I asked as i narrowed my eyes slightly. "In my defence I arrived after you did that." He said with a small chuckle. "And it's not all bad. Your neighbours across the hall are Me, Ajay and Loba. Well I'd probably class Loba as bad, watch your pockets around her." He said the last part in a more serious manner that made me a little scared of what would happen if I didn't. "At least if you get stabbed in your sleep, Ajay is just across the hall to keep you from bleeding out." He pointed to Ajay's room as we arrived at what I assumed was mine.

I could overhear Wraith talking about me with Gibby in her room. "Can we like, hurry this up a bit and maybe be a little quiet?" I asked as I glanced at her room. He got the message and opened the door. "By the way you can call me Elliot." He said before giving me a tour around the room.

At the end I sat down on the bed as he walked to the door. "We have training and sparring tomorrow at around 7am. Just give me a shout if you get attacked in the middle of the night, or something." He said before walking out and closing the door.

I laid back onto the pillow before thinking about the day. She's so gonna kill me in my sleep. I thought to myself before napping.
