I first met him when I lived in my mother's womb. His eyes had an innocence, yet a stain of menace as he appeared from nothingness. He sought me for something precious. He wished me to sacrifice my body, my flesh, and bones, to spare her.

But those images had to hold now because I will have my freedom tomorrow. Nebula, my twin sister, arrived in the world as normal, but I came as a ghost, so I couldn't touch anybody. Many suspected it's a jinx, others assumed I'm a satanic spirit, but I knew what had occurred. I had sacrificed half of my spirit to protect Nebula.

She did not deserve that sacrifice, though. She had pride. But it sounded fit for her. She was the future Moonlanders' Queen. Our Queen.

The Moonlanders, or as most called us, the witches, who had vast capacity. We were born to repair injured souls, benefit those in need, and share our knowledge. The Zaths are werewolves, ruthless, and hot-tempered. Few go along with them, but they aren't all too bad. Serions- creatures who had the ability to change from a sea creature to a human. Their powers included weather manipulation, communicating with animals, and physical strength. We considered Chereans, who read minds and hypnotized, as dubious. Most condescended them, but no one feared them. Last, the Celions, soothsayers of a kind, who traveled in alternate worlds and saw one's past-future. They came handy when Father wished to question a prisoner.

Nebula was the eldest of us, and the offspring of a Serion and a Moonlander. The Serion being our mother, Aquata and the Moonlander being our father, Alvaro. But she didn't get both of their powers, only our mother's. I should have gotten my father's powers by birthright, but ghosts don't get powers, and even though Nebula's powers included nothing extraordinary, she would still be the Queen. After her crowning, she would get married to the Celions' king, Lexon. The two would reign over both kingdoms and live their "happy ever after".

Since I must not be under her reign, I planned to go to the Land of Unknown where not a single soul might find me. My family, the servants, and maids, everyone knew that my departure most likely began the day after tomorrow. Everything was going the way I wanted.

There were only a few hours until her ceremony, so I spent the last few minutes in the park. The smell of the English roses, the chirping of the sunset birds, and the splashing sounds of the water fountain. I smiled upon the tranquility that came along when I heard a sudden rustle in the bushes.

I bolted to my feet, alarmed at the sudden noise, and saw a man stumble out of the shrubs. When the man stood at his full height, I looked up at him, astounded. "Who, may I ask, are you? How dare you step foot in the Royal Gardens?" I demanded, trying my best to force authority into my voice.

The youngster stared at me with a blend of delight and confusion dwindling on his features. "My greetings, Princess, I apologize for the immediate interference. I'm one of King Lexon's High Knights, Hedwig, and I am rather confused with where to go."
