We closed our eyes and voyaged into the depths of my half soul, except even that half did not belong to me. My memories were flashing in front of me, and all of a sudden I found myself staring at one incident, in particular.

"Please, don't hurt her. I will give you what you wish. Just, leave her alone"

I tried to remember its origin, date, anything, but nothing came. The dark clouds of greed and temptation seemed to hover right above me, and they took me to the bottom pits of my subconscious, a ruinous place.

As I dwelled further into the bottomless stairs of my conscious, I noticed all the instances I suppressed my emotions, my wishes, my wants. That one time I found myself wandering in the mountains after sunset, I was famished, but I just could not bring myself to slowly approach the rabbit and then jump on it to finally twist its neck. I kept thinking of how its blood would touch my lips, then my teeth, and finally I would taste the sweet liquid.

Why am I getting these thoughts? I wondered, but more memories kept playing, again and again.

I also happened to notice all the incidents I did not suppress my emotions, my wishes, my wants. I suppose I was always to be this way since my first time giving in to the allurement was when I was still in my mother's womb, waiting to be born into the world as a lifeless boy. But, I knew of a way to uplift the curse- I just had to steal a soul. I could never recall the entire event until today, her begging voice sounds music to my ears now, the way she kept screaming so I wouldn't harm the other one instead, these Moonlanders are so weak and so vulnerable.

And then, she finally said "Please, don't hurt her. I will give you what you wish. Just, leave her alone."

I suppose coming into my mind unlocked a part of me that I so deeply hated. I was so scared to ever meet the other half, but he doesn't look that bad, maybe I should give him a chance?

"Yes, Hedwig. Hear me out, please," he finally whispered from the side.

"But what will I obtain from this?" I wanted to know if I'd be at an advantage here.

"Everything you've ever wanted. Just think of all the times you stopped your true feelings, it felt like jail, right? I'm here to help you escape, all you need to do is let me do that."

I paused for a moment, wondering if this would be the right thing or not.

"Don't think about the right and the wrong. Think of how you can take over the empires and get the respect you deserve. People will bow down to you instead of glaring at you. They will treat you the right way. Just do it, Hedwig."

"Fine, at least people will realize my worth. How does this work, now?"

"Every time you find something you really want, just grab it. Don't resist it. You'll become stronger that way, and one day, you'll finally be able to rule over the world. You'll be able to punish those who did this to you."

"Wait, the priestess is here. Won't she find out?"

"The priestess, you mean, Maud Blackwood?"

I nodded in response.

"I will take care of her. You just remember what I said earlier. Don't resist."

With that, he emerged from the dark and came into more visual light. His eye shape and brown hair resembled my own reflection, except he had cat eyes, compared to my emerald green ones.  When our eyes finally met, it looked like meeting my darker self, and I'm sure he felt it too, but he just smirked at me and left towards the other end.

The moment we stepped into Hedwig's subconscious, I knew there was something wrong about this one. I could hear shrieks, see mortifying clips, and smell the rotten odor- of greed. He has been repressing these feelings for far too long and, wait, can he hear me? Does he know that I'm aware of it now?

"Oh, Mrs. Blackwood. How could I not know what you are thinking of when you're inside my other half's thoughts, huh?", Hedwig let a chuckle out.

"So, you're the culprit? How could you just betray King Lexon like that? He took care of you, for god's sake."

"Betraying King Lexon? I don't intend to do anything of the sort. I am here for my revenge. Ah, to think of this, you caused this, but I guess you already know that, Mrs. Blackwood. "

"You're not getting away with this, I will eradicate your existence," I said, shouting form my diaphragm.

"Quiet it down, you old lady. I couldn't overpower the angel-like part of me yet. The weakling whose half soul I have was too powerful, she had really good self-control. I should have taken the other one's. But, that part gave in, Hedwig finally gave in when I enticed him with all the things he can get if he would just let go of the DAMN CONTROL OF THE BODY. So, don't you worry, Mrs. Blackwood, I will be out in the world, soon."

"Hedwig, it isn't too late, I can help you find the other half of your soul," I said, trying for the last attempt at peaceful negotiations.

"DON'T CALL ME HEDWIG! I told you, Hedwig is the other part, the stolen part. I am the original, call me OSCURO, you fool."

"Now that you've told me, I'm never letting you out, ever. I will kill you, you bastard!"

"You're really so naive, and such an idiot, Mrs. Blackwood. Do you think I'm going to let you go, just like that? Without harming you, hmm?"

He slowly moved towards me, his hands just barely touching my neck, he was moving in circles, staring at me with those predatory eyes. Then, within a fraction of a second, his hands grasped my neck, never meaning to leave again. I clawed my fingers almost uselessly and used my seemingly last breath of air to scream for help, but I knew no one would come. No one could come. His sweaty palms were still pressing against my throat; I could feel my gullet closing, my vocal cords being crushed, and my head began to spin.

"Now, I only have your husband left to kill."

Even in the midst of my life slipping away, I looked at him, shocked.

"Don't be so shocked. That ring is still on your finger, so I know you got married. Hmm, well, I'll say goodbye to him, so don't worry about it."

As his long, skinny fingers continued cutting my air supply, I only hoped for someone to save me, or save Alvaro at least.
