"Well, it wasn't just a kiss

"Well, it wasn't just a kiss. It, um, was my first. But, I suppose I can forgive you if you promise to train me, hmm?" A deep shade of pink appeared on her cheeks as she blushed.

"I promise, Princess Crystal. I promise you I will train you."
It was another moment of silence when one of us would take a bold move, but my wingman was of no good when it came to such timings.

Are you two lovebirds done or do I have to be tortured more through this unimpressive flirting.

I scoffed.

Good. Now, ask her about Nebula, for God's sake!

"Um, Princess Crystal, I was just curious, about Queen Nebula. Mind if I ask some questions?"

"I would have no objection, but what are the questions for? I mean, surely Lexon would have let you know everything regarding her, right?"

"Ah, yes, King Lexon has only told us the basics. A couple of Knights and I, we wish to give them a special gift, so it's merely for that, nothing else."

"A gift? How so very thoughtful!" she responded, in a sarcastic tone.

"Yes, well."

"Anyways, go on and ask."

"Of course, of course. What instruments does she play, if any?"

"She plays the piano mainly and is quite talented, I must say. Her guitar skills, however, uh, could use some work," she smiled.

"Very well. What is something about her that you absolutely admire?"

"She is very good at maintaining and using her magic, also diplomatic. She is really good at diplomatic relations, you know."

"And um, did the Queen ever fall in love?"

For a moment, she paused. She took a deep breath, swallowing a pill of bitter truth, about to get teary. I lifted my hand to place on her shoulder, but he interrupted yet again!

Read her mind, focus!

I was going to yell at him, which could have been too loud, but I refrained from doing so and tried reading her mind instead. But no matter what I did, I couldn't. Unlike before, I was no longer able to hear her thoughts.

Aha! It's her locket! The purple one, she wasn't wearing this before.

In the meanwhile, she had gotten back to normal and replied, "I suppose she did, but we don't talk about that anymore. In fact, I am sure she'd appreciate no one conversing about this."

For the next few minutes, she and I didn't speak a word, but she conveyed her sadness through the way she made the bed for me. Her contagious smile was not to be seen, her hands were moving ever so slowly, and there was a certain poise to her movement which was uncommon in her usual self.

"So, um, I noticed the locket. Where did you get that one from?"

"Oh, yes. This purple locket, you mean? Tía gave it to me, for my third birthday and everyone insists I wear it, except when I visit tía because of some energy thing, I don't know."

"Well, it is a very beautiful locket for a very beautiful lady," I blushed.

"Thank you."

"Right, well, I need to speak to King Lexon. But, do not worry, Princess, I will be back soon enough."

With that, I left her company to finally confront King Lexon. I knew that this was not the best moment to leave her alone, but a part of me wanted to give her some space to let it out, perhaps. Besides, I had some evidence, hopefully enough, to discuss the matter. I headed towards his room but stopped when I hear arguing voice from inside, they were of Queen Nebula and King Lexon. I waited for the Queen to exit so I could talk to him privately and the way she left was quite concerning, it seemed like they had fought seriously this time. I knocked on his door but unlike his usual self when he would throw a smile upon seeing me, he remained frustrated.

Sure, like every relationship, they had a couple of arguments but never did Queen Nebula leave the room in such a manner, I was concerned, genuinely.

"King Lexon, is everything all right? I heard some yelling, I'm afraid."

"Yes, yes. No need to worry, Hedwig. Just a couple of disagreements about the wedding, I'm sure we'll be fine, so you can go now. Don't fret."

I was going to spike a conversation about Queen Nebula when I heard him think, "I need to go and find out more about Hedwig's past, for Nebula's sake. Yes, I will leave at dawn."

"Are you sure? There isn't anything I should know about?"

"I am sure, Hedwig. Take care of your health, by the way."

"Yes, of course, King Lexon. Goodnight. I will see you in the morning."

"Yes, yes. Goodnight, Hedwig."
