My body was shivering and felt fragile when I picked up the footsteps from behind me; I turned back and noticed a man in a suit jogging towards me. When I squinted my eyes for a clearer vision, I recognized the male was Hedwig.
"Princess, the King has asked me to stay with you for you still appear as frail," Hedwig said, looking at me for approval.
"Great. Listen, I'm not overjoyed when people violate my personal space; that's why I don't even have any guards. Now, you have my permission, so you can go back," I asserted, trying to sustain the demeanor.
He came closer to me, his face just a few inches away from mine. I sensed his warm breath on my face, when he stated, in a raspy voice, "It's my King's orders, and I wish to abide by them."
His eyes were glaring into mine, not blinking even once, but his intimidation did not affect me. From the close distance between us now, my cheeks were rushing with blood and my body was heating. My state was too vulnerable at this moment as he didn't glance away, so, to break the silence, I scoffed and responded, "Fine."
As I moved forwards and wandered through the endless stairs in the castle, hoping to lose him somewhere, I became carefree. Perhaps he'd get confused, but he didn't. I began to have fun with him, teasing him, running up and down the stairs, when I heard a sound. The sound of someone falling.
As I hurried towards him, only wondering how badly he got wounded, I guilt hit me. But, I secretly let a smile out of my lips after I looked at Hedwig whining like a child. I saw the more delicate parts of his body.
His soft palms, which held my hand a few occasions ago and his eyes, which I could not stop staring at anymore, and his exposed lips calling me, which held my hand before.
My temperature was rising, but at this moment, I didn't care much. With passion in my eyes, blood rushing rapidly through my veins and a strong want, I kneeled, facing towards Hedwig. I could now look at his imperfections from a closer view. He had a small scar below his eyes, and his teeth were a little crooked, but they only made him more enticing.
"Princess? Princess? Are you all right?", he raised his brows in confusion.
It pulled me out of my fantasies and heavily breathed. My pulse was racing now, I sensed it. So, trying to control my desires, I said, "Yes, yes. I am just fine. You appear to be injured, though. Here, take my hand. I will get you to the Royal Physician."
He opposed any aid, claiming, "Princess Crystal, I am the Royal High Knight and am to protect you. I cannot ask you to help me; it must be the other way around."
I was not taking his attitude, even if I thought otherwise for him a few minutes ago. So, I ordered, "Hedwig, you might be the Royal High Knight, but you are serving me, so you must adhere to my telling. And I order you to let me help you, so we may treat you."
He gave up when opposed to my orders. He put his shoulder over my hand, sending tickles all up my spine. I was still a little unfamiliar to touching someone, so having him brush my bareback through my dress gave me tingling sensations.
Slowly, we started heading towards the medical chambers. Even though Hedwig was the one requiring medical attention, my pacing heartbeat seemed to call for analysis, too. I was unclear about everything that was happening with my body, and I started fretting about it when Hedwig distracted me.
"Out of interest, might I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead."
"Princess Crystal, you have prodigious strength in your body, looking at the manner you are easily carrying me over your shoulder. Did you, perhaps, gain any teaching from a traditional warrior school?"
"Training, you mean? Well, I have not. My parents always viewed it is not wise for a princess to learn such manly skills, but I picked up a few tricks from our Royal Guard training. I would sneak into their arena and closely listen to them before being taken away by my parents."
"Well, Princess, I should apologize in advance for what I am to mention, but I think you should obtain guided training. I see extreme potential in you, Princess. In fact, if you permit, I would prefer to train you."
"Train me? I thought you would return to your Kingdom after the ceremonies tomorrow."
"Yes, that is correct, Princess."
My sparkling eyes with hope focused inwards while I tightly pressed my lips. I sensed a wave of sorrows enter my body, but why? Why did I feel even the slightest bit of disappointment about a man I met a few hours ago leaving me? Was it because he could touch me? Or was it more than that?
"But I shall return. Well, what I intend to convey is that The Queen and King will stay in this palace until they build their new castle," he stuttered in his speech, shifting his eyes between glancing at me and looking away.
The corners of my closed lips were gradually curling upwards as they turned into a smile. Why did I feel this happy because of him?
"Well then, let's get you healed soon, you will train a Moonlander Princess, you must do it at your best health," I said while arriving at the Royal Physician's chamber.
"Mr. Ryver, are you here?", I shouted, searching for the doctor.
A middle-aged male with heavy eye bags under his eyes and a smile on his face stepped out of the chamber and spoke, "Ah, Princess Crystal, it has been a while. How have you been? Who is this young man, if I may ask?"
"Hello, Mr. Ryver, a pleasure to see you. This man is Hedwig, King Lexon's Royal High Knight. He slipped off the stairs, so please take care of him," I said while pushing hard to sound more proper.
I slowly took his arms from my shoulder and helped him to the inside, on a bed.
"Mr. Ryver, please treat him soon. I shall leave now, Hedwig, I will see you later. Get well soon."
I didn't wait for a reply from either of them and scurried towards my room. I was unsettled about being able to touch him, having him touch me. I was going through devastation because I still could not process why my body was heating or why my heart would not slow down.
