Yells of protest erupt from the crowd. People screaming and running. I can't make anything out, and with my blurry, stinging eyes, it just makes me more confused.
I grab a someone who is running away, and ask them what happened.
"They shot someone! It was close range! They're unconscious I think, maybe even dead!"
I'm shocked to hear something like this has happened. I let the person go, and try to find the protester who has been shot.
It wasn't hard, since there was a crowd of people surrounding them. As I got closer, I noticed it was the same girl who I blocked from the mace. Anger overtakes me. I notice the officer who maced her was the only one with his gun out, aiming at us. It must have been him who shot her.
I start walking up to him, but suddenly a strong hand grabs my shoulder, not allowing me to go further. I try to break the grip, but it was no use. Whoever was holding me back was extremely strong.
I whip my head around, trying to identify the person who stopped me, only to be met by a masked face, with a hood pulled over.
"Why are you always stopping me?! Let me go!" I yell at them. I finally have enough and reach my hand to their hood, attempting to pull it down so I can see the face of this strange man.
The man's hand shoots upwards, grabbing mine before I can pull the hood off. "Just let it go." The individual says to me, before letting me go and walking off.
I stare down the officer once more, and then finally let it go. I suddenly remember the unconscious girl, and rush over to the crowd to try and help her.
"Let me through!" I say as I try to get past the gathered crowd. I end up pushing through and collapse next to the girl. I see a growing bruise right under her eye.
"She's alive, luckily." I hear someone say. I sigh with relief and pull out a handkerchief, wetting it with some water from my water bottle before pressing it against the growing bruise.
I get up and start walking toward the back of the crowd, trying to spot the officer who has done this. I notice him standing far off from the other policemen, with his guard down as he's trying to spot the girl he shot, buried deep within the crowd.
I take this as my chance and start slowly walking toward him, making sure to walk far from where his eyes are, to make sure to lower the chances of being spotted by him. As I get closer, I prepare to punch him, but I realize how dumb and reckless that is. If I do that, I'm not only putting my life in danger, but also the lives of all these other protesters. It's too late to turn back though, I'm too close to him, I'm sure he's noticed me by now.
I decide that instead of attacking him straight up, I'll try to lead him away from the other officers. Maybe if I try to talk to him...
"E-excuse me, Officer?" I say, trying to sound as innocent as possible. He turns around to face me, making his fun noticeable to stop me from doing anything.
"What is it?" He says. "I-I'm a little lost.. C-could you please help me? I'm scared and you look very strong, you would be able to protect me..." I shyly look down, and then trail my eyes up his body.
"You know, I'm not supposed to leave this place, that'll be breaking formation," My breath catches, this was my only chance! "But maybe just this once, I'll help you."
Joy runs through my body. "Th-thank you!"
We start walking away from the crowd, and I make small-talk with him, trying to appear cute and innocent. Once we are far enough, I stop walking.
"Why'd you stop? We're nearly at your street." "I have to ask you a question..." I start. "Why did you mace and shoot a young, innocent girl?"
The man looks at me in surprise. "It's my job, and I didn't feel safe." I burst out laughing. "ACAB, baby." I say before I kick his legs from under him, sending him falling straight to the ground.
As I send a punch to his face, I once again feel a presence behind me. Right as my punch connects, I feel a cloth being pushed into my face. I try to scream but I suddenly start feeling weak and woozy. I turn my head around in time to see that stupid, hooded man. Damn him.
