Later I woke up. I was so insanely hot. My stomach felt really weak and there was a strange taste in my mouth. My head was throbbing it so much it hurt to open my eyes. When Ashton saw I was awake he came over and sat down on my bed. He picked up the thermometer and took my temperature.
"104.6 Michael that's way too high. What hurts?"
"I'm shivering, I'm super hot, my headache is really bad, I just feel horrible."
I am beginning to cry. I feel so miserable. I just want to get better.
"I know you feel horrible but your really sick and should go to the hospital. I'll drive you to the emergency room"
He helped my weak shaking body stand up and stumble out to the car. When we got there we told them what happened. I was put in a hospital bed and told to lay down. Ashton sat in a seat next to me. I layed there half conscious until a doctor walked in.
"So what is wrong?"
"He has been feeling really sick and has a high fever. He also had a bad headache." Ashton said.
I was relived that he talked for me. I had almost no energy left.
"Has he vomited?"
"No"
"I'm going to take his temperature."
She grabbed a thermometer and stuck it into my ear. I shivered. She took it out and said, "104.7 That's very high. It would be worse though if he had pain somewhere else."
She left the room. She came back did a few tests then left again. She then returned. "Mr. Clifford had nothing more than a very bad case of the flu." Ashton who has been very tense and worried seemed to relax a little. "He is fine to go home. Make sure he stays hydrated and well cared for." She handed Ashton a medication to help me and we left.
I went home and went to sleep. Soon Ashton woke me up to make me swallow a pill and drink some water.
