Chapter 8

"We are all connected whether it be in this lifetime or many others before this one"

I sighed relaxing and burying myself deeper into the warmth that cocooned me. I opened my eyes to be greeted by a white ceiling, and sat up straight looking around confused how i got in my own bed.

It hit me like a truck and i held up my shirt looking at my waist for wounds but found none, not even some scars that were left on my abdomen by my brother's beating back in the past.

Did i even go to forest yesterday?

I quickly grabbed my phone, which was on the side table and saw notifications from svana and 12 missed calls and then the text msg saying her balance had been finished.

I sighed rubbing my hands over my face and getting up to go to the bathroom. I washed my face and took a bath. I decided to help svana through the shop today and discuss about the animals that lurk in the forest.

I got ready for the day and ate the breakfast i made for myself.

In the bakery, the air is more delicious than any flavour. Somehow the aroma captures everything good in there; the filter coffee, the various cakes which svana made and danish pastries. The blend is perfection, but as a mixture of flavours they would be terrible- 'coffee cake mixture,' i don't think so somehow.

It's the kind of place i can sit in for hours, the air so perfumed without any chemicals. I wish i could eat it, that my palate was as sophisticated as my sense of smell.

I made my way towards the kitchen where the smell was coming from and wore my gloves as i grabbed the ingredients, starting making the cake mixture as well as cookie dough after.

Svana was making a little talk about a lady she saw and how that lady was selling expensive fruits and when she tried so bargain for less money, the lady kicked her out. It had me laughing lightly at her tactics.

Evening came and the sunset was really beautiful as svana decided to close the shop as no customers were coming. She was locking the shop when i decided to ask about weird creatures lurking the forest.

Horror filled her eyes which confused me even more. "Yo- you went to the for- forest?" Her voice quivering as i did a heinous crime going there.

"Yeah, i wanted to snap some photos for my instagram account-".

"What colour was the wolf?"

"What?" I asked confused.

"Did i stutter" she said snapping at me.

"Brown coloured with piercing indigo and white eyes" i explained while walking with her out the shop.

Her face paled as she stopped walking abruptly and held my hands tightly saying, "you will be staying the night with me tonight, just trust me alright?, you can borrow my clothes and everything u need,

"I will have to book you a flight, u have to get out of here, or he will catch you!" Her forehead was sweating as she continuously talked nonsense saying that i will be finished and how i have to get out of here before he catches me and how other people can't know.

I was terrified that who was 'he' that she was talking about but she wouldn't answer any question that  i asked her.

I was confused beyond apprehension. She led me to her house, brought out a duffel bag and started piling up her clothes as well as mine we got from my apartment along the way.

"SVANA, what the fuck happened, why the fuck are u acting like this and what has gotten into you!, i came here to get away from my past and now when I'm settling down you are sending me away for God knows what reason, it's my fucking life and i will decide if i want to go or not, who are you making them decisions for me when i have known you not longer than a month without telling me any solid reason" shaking her shoulder while trying to knock sense into her thick-headed brain.

"You're right, I'm really sorry but i can't tell you right now just know I'm doing this for you please for my sake go away." Her eyes pleading for me to understand.

But i couldn't go, not when i finally got to live my life by rules.
"Hey, hey svana calm down, go to sleep we will meet tomorrow I'm going to my cottage."

"NO, i mean no please sleep here tonight i don't want to me alone"

"Alright, go to sleep I'm right here" i said as her eyes started fluttering close. I to laid on the bed thinking about the way she reacted when i told her about the wolf. Shaking my head i decided tomorrow would be a better day.

And so I slept, hearing several howls of the wolves as i did so.
Somewhere between the night i felt a warm hand caressing my cheek murmuring words i couldn't decipher. I leaned my head towards the warmth as it was the same warmth that i felt in the forest. The voice that was murmuring chuckled lowly and whispered,

'Soon mate, soon'

And with those words darkness returned to me with open arms as i welcomed it and slept again with those words being repeated in my mind like a broken radio.
