Chapter-2  Uh-oh

“Mum, I’m home.” I let out a sigh as I kicked my shoes on the nearby shoe rack. We didn’t exactly have a big house, nor a small one. You can just say we had a medium sized house. A drawing room, one kitchen, four rooms;one downstairs, one upstairs and two washrooms.

I ran into the house as the smell of fresh pizza hit me. What the fuck?! My mother can’t eat all that heaven without me! No, no no no no! I’m not gonna let that happen. Call me an idiot, but I’m absolutely crazy over pizzas! I just love ‘em, more than myself!

I ran swiftly into the kitchen, there I saw my mum, munching on her pizzas. She had chocolate brown hair like me but she had piercing blue eyes unlike mine which were dull black. I know, not too pleasing to hear.

“Mum, that’s not fair!” I whined like a little kid. “You didn’t even leave anything for me!” I scowled.

“Well hello to you too.” My mum smiled and rolled her eyes.

“Hello my ass! Where is my pizza?” I gave an extra emphasis on ‘my’ to make her get the point.

“Hey, you think I’m an evil witch or something? Its  on the counter.” She said and I looked at her apologetically, “Sorry mum, love you!” I said and hugged her. Of course, that’s how considerate  and caring my mum is. And I love her for that. She can never eat my pizza, ever!

I got the heaven from the counter and sat beside  mom to enjoy it.

“So how was your day?” I asked mum munching on my pizza. Mmm…nothing can ever compare to its taste!

“Fine, I’ve had a hard time dealing with the customers today.” She said. She looked like she was too tired of something.

“What happened, anything wrong?” I asked eyeing at her.

“Nothing, just some silly old drunken teenagers in the diner,” She said as she scowled at the plate. “Making a mess of my diner, I had to throw them all out.”

I laughed, “Hope you’d never do anything like that!” she eyed at me expecting an answer.

“Of course, I swear I’d never touch alcohol.” She didn’t believe me. “Ever.” I corrected when she finally looked satisfied.

“Good, I believe you.” She said glancing at me. I nodded.

“How was your day?” she asked finishing her last piece.

I gulped, “It was good.” How I hated lying to my mom!

“Uh-huh.” She said looking into my eyes, and suddenly she stared intently at me.

“W-what are you staring at?” I asked getting a bad feeling.

“Whats that on your face, below your chin?” she came a bit more closer until she could see it clearly.

“Oh my God! It’s a cut! How did you get that? Are you alright?” she asked with a worried look on her face.

“Mom, relax. Its just a cut. I just slipped and fell down the stairs.” I lied. Of course I can’t tell my mum the truth about my pathetic high school life. She’s already going through so many issues right now and I have no right to worry her because of me. Whats there to tell anyways? That her daughter is treated worst than garbage at school?!

“Are you sure you’re not hiding something from me?” she asked looking at me suspiciously.

Uh-oh!

“Of course not. Why will I?” I gave my best confident look to convince her. She stared at me intently for a while, not believing a word I said but she finally gave up. I sighed. I hope she didn’t hear that though.
